Overall Satisfaction with Miro

Miro is the most powerful tool for our research and research operations team. Customizing board usage enables us to perform a number of different activities, from anonymous retros to cross-functional brainstorming to repository storage to data analysis to research planning. The creative freedom it enables allows our diverse team to do their best work that aligns with how they think and present.

Pros

  • It enables extensive but custom real-time collaboration on a board based on the work needed.
  • It is extremely easy to learn and master, making it accessible for diverse groups to pick up and participate. Unlike other tools on the market, there is no friction to entry.
  • It can be used for almost all types of work, from workshops to retros to planning to tracking to presentation to training (specifically the voice-over recording function!).

Cons

  • More options with text editing, such as highlighting or more fonts.
  • Easier shape alignment when creating shapes over shapes.
  • A slideshow option would be great to move from frame to frame like a traditional power point presentation for the more old school companies that require them.
  • Miro allows us to plan, track, analyze, and report rapid insights from multiple focus groups of over 40+ participants among a research team of 10+.
  • Miro enables more engagement from our introverted research by reducing the barrier of entry to the tool and anon functionality.
  • Miro allows us to upload various files to the board in any format, giving us more freedom to work on material from tools with low collaboration functionality.
Our team is fully remote and located across the continental USA. Without Miro, we could not do collaborative, effective work in real-time or offline. Seeing who has worked on what sections and comments allows us the freedom to complete work in whatever timeline we need. We aren't limited to working together during live meetings.
Figma is much more complex and offers a different level of design work than Miro. So, Miro is the best choice for allowing our team with different technological expertise to participate. Miro is more forgiving in the whiteboard functionality than Figma, so it enables the in-team and cross-functional work we aim to conduct.

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Miro is excellent for creative teams like research, design, and marketing because it has almost unlimited capabilities for creative organization, from pre-planning (brainstorms) to planning (prototype renderings, organizing scattered resources) to execution (tracking high or low-level information) to presentation. But then again, all organizations need creative activities like retros and workshops. The templates on Miro allow even those who are not as creatively inclined to benefit from a preset board for their own team's needs. Miro might not be best for organizations that rely on other tools that do not have an existing integration with Miro.
