Miro is a great whiteboarding tool for remote teams
Overall Satisfaction with Miro
We use Miro as a digital whiteboard and planning tool throughout our software development process. This includes regular events like sprint retros or quarterly planning sessions and ad hoc uses for brainstorming or illustrating processes during meetings. It allows us to illustrate complex concepts quickly and to let the whole team interact with the board.
Pros
- Digital whiteboard
- Letting remote workers collaborate on the same board
- Using templates to set new pages quickly
Cons
- It's sometimes complicated for some team members to join a board if they haven't logged in in a long time because of account or licensing issues.
- There are the occasional connectivity issues
- Miro offers many tools, making finding the right one (or even just knowing it exists) difficult.
- Improved communication within teams
- Faster meeting preparation
- Identifying dependencies between teams by using a Miro board
Our teams work remotely with members from around the world. Miro helps us coordinate our work, share information, brainstorm, etc. It's the next best thing to being together in the same room.
Microsoft Teams includes a whiteboard tool but it's very basic, mostly limiting itself to simulating a real whiteboard. Miro offers many more tools and that makes it a much more powerful piece of software. The many templates and options makes it easier to use it in a variety of situations and the collaboration options are much better.
