Overall Satisfaction with Miro

Miro is often used for brainstorming, early product development work, workshops, and cross-team collaboration. We use it daily for all our teams and continue finding new ways to collaborate as a global, remote-first organization. We use many of the features, including presentation and meeting management tools.

Pros

  • Collaboration in cross-team workshops.
  • Managing meetings.
  • Effective brainstorming session.
  • AI summaries'.

Cons

  • I would like to see it be really easy to ensure everyone is using the same size shapes or post-its. It tends to cause a lot of re-sizing and organizing after a meeting.
  • Make it easier to see live AI summaries to help continue a meeting discussion.
  • Less meetings on a single subject.
  • Reduced time to starting a product build.
  • Better brainstorming outcomes in less time.
  • Remote-first focus.
I often embed Miro in a Confluence doc or get notifications in Slack, which makes life easier for everyone to use the tool effectively.
Miro is the first tool used and continues to be used throughout almost all of the projects we work on throughout the year. With a global team, it also makes it easier to do async work that helps move a project along faster.
Miro is a bit more complex with the number of features and needs to learn to get used to, but it has far more tools than Figma whiteboards. I think some simplification in the look and feel initially makes Figma more user-friendly, but ultimately, Miro is a better product.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

It is best to do cross-team workshops with many members to collect all the ideas and quickly summarize them afterward. It is less appropriate to use Miro to keep ideas long-term or present information to stakeholders; this is better done in the form of summary documentation and formal presentations.

Using Miro

It seems to be challenging to get a good understanding of how to use the tool best at first. It can be cluncky to use during meetings if you don't understand how to use the meeting management tools and ensure others on the team know where to go and how to contribute.

After some time it becomes second nature and a great tool for everyone!
