Overall Satisfaction with Nutanix AOS

Nutanix is becoming the heart of our internal IT architecture platform. We are busy migrating services one by on to Nutanix. We are promoting this platform to other departments but some are having issues with the false idea of being vendor-locked.
We have been able to evangelize other business units and we are now providing IaaS using the "project" feature of AOS. This is working brilliantly!

Pros

Cons

  • Some custom fields for VM could be great
  • Entry ticket might scare some people
  • More SDN functionalities could be developed
  • Breaking the silos between virtualization, storage and server hardware is a key element. Now, you can operate a very complex environment with very few people.
  • Speed of deployment drastically decreased, you can deploy VMs at light speed, with fewer clicks.
  • Nutanix is bringing an entire ecosystem of product and technologies compatible with their vision: 1-click.
This is well know in the industry that Nutanix support is the best out there. I'm not mentioning their Net Promoter score here which make jealous any other tech companies, but the fact that their support team is able to touch any IT environment without contacting other vendors is really amazing. You can have any issues in your environment, they will be able to tackle it without any doubt !

Nutanix : it simply works ! and the best of this : if it does not for some reason, you'll get the support you are eligible to.
Another important aspect of a product, usability. If you are in the IT field, you can get on with Nutanix AOS in half a day. This is intuitive, beautiful to watch and very easy to use. They used to call it the iPhone of the datacenter. This comparison is even more extended to the 1-Click simplicity.
Because everything is optimized, the performance you can get from the platform is simply amazing. Not only on the all flash model, even hybrid platforms are are very efficient and responsive. Old application are renewed when migrated to Nutanix.
Seriously, there is no real competitors to Nutanix. They are the best in every situation. Once you read technical specs and you do a PoC you immediately understand why this is the best in class. Nutanix is the most platform agnostic solution, software only, all terrain vendor to date. And, they are truly amazing. The evidence is : every vendors are comparing themselves to Nutanix on the HCI topic.
VDI deployment used to be the best business case but today, there are no limits anymore, Nutanix is well suited in any situation, any workload and now, the x86 barrier fell down with the support of IBM Power architecture. We are mostly Linux users in the company and it works at the most performance possible today.
