Overall Satisfaction with PagerDuty

We have been using PagerDuty for over 3 years, and it proved to be an indispensable tool.

It's used mainly by operations teams, but recently we have started having developers on-call as well. This change has improved our software delivery process since with great responsibility (shipping best possible software) comes great risk (being woken up at 3 am).
  • On-call scheduling
  • Persistent notifications
  • Better UX / UI of web interface
  • Mobile application is a bit flaky
  • Shorter incident response time
  • Helped us notice some issues otherwise we would have missed
We haven't given it a second thought - we just assume that PagerDuty is a reliable and stable service, and we've getting this ever since we started using it. I know that no maintenance approach is difficult, so kudos to the team!
We have been using multiple integration (Datadog, AWS, Rollbar, and some custom ones as well). The great thing is Datadog integration, in which we can have a centralized hub for monitoring all our services, applications, and hardware. Rollbar has proved to have some issues, but that's on Rollbar's end.
We have not used this feature, since we aim for pre-incident automation.
We have not tried any other solutions since PagerDuty worked as expected from day one. We have briefly scanned other options, but PagerDuty proved to have the most bang for the buck. Given the improvements PagerDuty team has been rolling out I don't think we're going to be looking for a replacement any time soon.
PagerDuty support has been helpful with all the questions that we had, we never had to reach out to support about anything being broken.

PagerDuty does exactly what needs to be done - alerts you about critical incidents. This means that you need to be mindful about what triggers PagerDuty, you don't want to get your teams overwhelmed by alert fatigue. This works great if you have a well-defined criteria, but with some integrations it's easy to get overwhelmed.
