Overall Satisfaction with Procore

Procore is a relatively new addition to our company; the software is utilized collectively by all company employees, in one facet or another. For myself, being an intermediate Procore user with experience at a previous company, it solves the "searching" for [challenge] - searching for emails, related documents to a PCO, PCCO, RFI, Submittal etc. If used at intended or full capacity, you have a trail of correspondence, approvals, uploads, emails etc all in one place. It's WONDERFUL.
  • The first thing i fell in love with about Procore - CONFORMED DRAWINGS & UPDATED PLAN LOGS!! Effortlessly!
  • Upload sheets. Approve & Publish. Download new Current Set.
  • No more replacing pages in a pdf. No more tedious page flipping to create a Plan Manifest in Excel.
  • With proper document control - Correct labeling of new sets, revisions, etc. You can rest assured that the "Current Set" is the Latest & Greatest.
  • Contracts & Subcontracts- Fill in a few fields and hit create. Honestly, it IS that simple!!
  • With a little bit of uploading & formatting on the front end, you can have custom contracts - Company logo, all exhibits, negotiated language,
  • You can even create specific documents for specific Clients!
  • EASY BREEZY!
  • Bidding - Although our company has yet to utilize this feature to its fullest, I know from past experience how easy this module is to use when going out to bid. Creating specific bid packages based on CSI, or Project Phasing, etc.
  • Procore has added a feature allowing you to create a Subcontract from award winning bid proposals! How nice is that?
  • Permission Levels - This I've found to be THE most confusing aspect of the software. I can say that this is the hesitation within our company to move forward and allow Procore to function as intended. Will the Owner see this before we've fully vetted? Will other bidders see that? Who sees the Change Events? PCO? What about internal docs?
  • Being new to the company, I have not been granted admin permissions, so, other than try my best to explain or refer to Cust. Support, there isn't a lot I can do to alleviate frustration or to get them to trust the software.
  • Maybe more of a Basic Rundown or a Cheat Sheet that you can download that explains it simply, Read Only - [for example] "They see this in this module; They can do this in this module." etc.
  • Ah - I knew you'd want hard numbers!!!! Since the company isn't running Procore at full steam capacity yet, any substantial information wouldn't be an accurate overview.
  • I will speak for myself and say that my daily productivity would decrease by easily 20% without Procore!
  • If I didn't utilize Procore to perform even routine PE duties - such as...lets say Tracking Submittals, RFI's, COR's/PCOs, etc., ugh. I'd be using Excel, which is such a timesuck, I think. And leaves too much room for error.
  • Procore allows me to track every draft and issued document, provides at-a-glance information for on the fly answers to PM or Ownership. I can print open item reports effortlessly and quickly.
  • I can keep the team in one place, distribute to all from one place, lets BIC recipients reply directly through Procore and keeps all up to speed with reminders, approvals, or even unofficial responses.
NOT EVEN CLOSE!
Most "Construction" software is dressed up accounting software and doesn't provide the tools, forms and integration that Procore does.
Plain & Simple.
Being in the Construction Industry - I don't know why a Contractor or Developer wouldn't at least TRY Procore!! Although, I can say having worked for Construction Management firm - we couldn't use Procore to its fullest. The software at that time was more well suited for a GC. We had a Remodel & Warranty Dept that could set it up as intended, and run it like a GC. It's an expensive add for the CM side of things if ownership or clients don't buy into using it collectively.

Using Procore

25 - General Contracting Firm: President, HR Manager, Controller
Accounting: AP & AR
Project Management, Field Management, Preconstruction Management
Retrofit & Remodel PM, APM, Supers, Laborers

Admin level permissions would help! I have almost 2 years under my Procore belt from a previous contractor....
  • Doc control
  • Tracking
  • Construction team collective use
  • Committed cost & budget tracking for a client - no other docs or modules issued.
  • I would love to see our company use Procore from start to finish. However, Preconstruction to actual mobilization & in field construction are 2 different animals, and so far we've only utilized for GC New Construction.
If it were up to me - it's a no-brainer!!
