Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Online

I use QuickBooks Online for my business as well as for my clients. I find it especially useful because my clients are located all over the world. Rather than having to provide them with backups for them to try to figure out how to use, they can log into QuickBooks Online and see entries in real-time.

Pros

  • Smooths out the 990/audit process by giving the CPA firm access to the clients' books.
  • Allows me to easily help my employees when they have questions about how to enter a transaction.
  • Send overdue invoice reminders with one click

Cons

  • QuickBooks Desktop allowed the user to have multiple reports open simultaneously. QuickBooks Online needs that same functionality.
  • I have not had to turn away clients because all my clients use QuickBooks Online.
None of my employees had any QuickBooks Online experience prior to coming to work for me. All of them have been able to learn it pretty quickly. Clients who are not familiar with accounting have also been able to learn how to find the reports they need. Giving read-only access to some clients is also helpful.
QuickBooks Online makes working with clients in distant states more seamless. When my clients were on Desktop, I had to upload backups for the client to download and execute. They would frequently make changes and not tell me, which would lead to inaccurate reporting at the end of the month.

It is well-suited when the accountant/bookkeeper and the client are geographically distant. This allows the client to see changes in real-time. It also allows the accountant/bookkeeper to see what changes the client makes in real-time. It also prevents transactions from getting lost when transferring/reloading backups between the accountant/bookkeeper and the client.
