Overall Satisfaction with RingCentral Meetings

RIngCentral Meetings is our primary service for both internal and external web conference meetings. We employ it across our sales and delivery teams, as well as for recurring internal company meetings that include remote team members or people at across our three main offices. We use it both for content sharing, video conferencing, and sometimes just as an audio conference solution. It gives us one consistent tool to use for all our multi-endpoint real-time communication needs.
  • Easy to start a meeting with video or audio
  • Support lots of people connecting in to the meeting
  • Recordings are easy to start
  • Transferring ownership to another participant
  • Easy to create recurring meetings
  • It's easy to end up accidentally trying to run multiple meetings under the same account, which can cause churn and confusion for participants
  • Interacting with people outside the organization is sometimes hard because RingCentral Meetings requires them to download and install software - there's no plugin-free way to get in to the conference (other than just dialing in via audio)
  • A lot of our end users are repeatedly confused with how to select phone vs computer audio, so we end up losing time at the start of a meeting dealing with echoes on the line
  • There's only two roles in a meeting - Host and Guest. When we have large meetings with remote team members, it'd be useful to be able to manage subgroups of participants - i.e. Team Members vs Executives, to be able to control who gets muted or who gets dropped at different times in the call.
  • From time to time we encounter notifications of instability of the underlying internet connection, but then RingCentral isn't able to tell us if the issue was on our local network, intermediary sources, or their main service.
  • Because RingCentral Meetings is just a white label of Zoom, RingCentral's support for the platform is more limited than for their other services.
  • The big benefit for us is that, because RingCentral Meetings is included as part of our RingCentral account, we don't have to pay another vendor on top of our existing fees to get support for a consistent, company-wide web conferencing system.
  • In some cases, we've found that our clients prefer using our Meetings platform to their own in-house systems, which are usually things like Skype, WebEx, etc.
  • On the flip side, RingCentral until recently hasn't had great support for room-to-room solutions, and so we ended up implementing LifeSize for that - so internally we still have to semi-competing platforms in play. Their room solution relies on 3rd party hardware and peripherals, and so is time consuming to get set up and working easily.
As a consulting company, we often have to adapt to our customers' needs in communication - which can mean using whatever system they're already on. Most of the time, they come around to preferring RingCentral Meetings over whatever they're using, and we've found it's a great value for us since it's already included in our RingCentral subscription, and runs on Mac, Windows, and Mobile devices. Despite the big drawback of needing to install the app locally and not having an in-browser solution for guests, it's lightweight, intuitive interface makes it an easy conferencing tool to adopt.

It's great for internal meetings and for when you need screen sharing and video visibility. It's not well suited for basic phone conferences, and can be tricky to use with participants outside your company.
