Overall Satisfaction with SAP Commerce Cloud

We use SAP Commerce Cloud for our B2B customer portal. Customers can register on the portal, browse through the product catalog, place an order utilizing their special priceing (in any) and payment conditions. The product catalog includes a variety of over 100K products.
The portal offers standard online shop features, like adding new address, creating purchase lists, reordering of previous carts, and initiate returns. In addition to order placing, customers can track the status of their order, download documents like invoices, quotations and technical datasheets.

Pros

  • Quartely Updates with some new features
  • Customer Support
  • Reliable Cloud infrastructure
  • Easy connection to other SAP Solutions through CPI

Cons

  • Product Catalog very old, hasnt been improved in last couple years
  • SmartEdit (the conent editor manager) lacks a lot of basic features
  • Use of one license for 5 stores in different regios/countries
  • customisazion of regional shops
Besides SmartEdit and Product Catalog, the rest of the application is very good. Including the customer support in case of a need. There are 3rd party offerings for a better content management or Product Management but these not only require additional expensive licensing, they also bring additional development efforts and dependencies to external companies.
While SAP Commerce Cloud may not offer the flexibility and technology other solutions liek e.g. commercetools offer, it has a better overall value. At least for our B2B customer portal requierements. It gains also in points if in the company other SAP solutions like ERP or CRM are in place, since it offers through CPI seamless integration. Based on our comparison in 2023, we didnt feel that Adobe's solution was ideal for B2B and Oracle's was lacking a lot of functionality compared to SAP Commerce Cloud

Do you think SAP Commerce Cloud delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with SAP Commerce Cloud's feature set?

Yes

Did SAP Commerce Cloud live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of SAP Commerce Cloud go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy SAP Commerce Cloud again?

Yes

SAP Commerce Cloud provides frequest security updates and a reliable solution for the company. The basic store can be setup in couple months and offer a fast go to market presence.
If your website however is content heavy, SmartEdit does not offer much of flexibility. It would be better to connect an exteral CMS solution if it is available.
The Backoffice interface which is meant for Business is on one side very powerful, but not intuitive from UX perspective.
