Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are currently implementing SAP Hybris in a B2B company. The solution that is being implemented will be used by the entire organization as a digital channel for taking orders from our client's business partners. SAP Hybris will allow us to provide business partners with a consistent digital channel that is integrated with the company's ERP and will also allow us to be more agile in the process of taking orders and sales.

Pros and Cons

SAP Hybris brings a State-of-the-Art platform to customize and extend with particular business requirements
SAP Hybris delivers a secure and strong system to accomplish high security requirements

The implementation of SAP Hybris requires highly trained people with previous experience to achieve success.
SAP Hybris does not have a solution designed for small companies, it is a platform designed for medium and large companies, at least in Latam Market.

Return on Investment

SAP Hybris has the AFL Application Framework Lifecycle, with a lot of resources to manage a project with Agile methodology, that can improve your cost significantly.
SAP Hybris has not an insignificant "time to market", you have to dedicate a lot of effort to planning and design, so be ready for a project that can last for 4 to 18 months depending on functionality.
The ROI in Hybris high when you do it right, I know companies that increased their digital sales in 20-30% in just one year.

Scalability

SAP Commerce is multi site, multibrand, multi country. You can base your expansion strategy in more web presences of SAP Commerce, all you need is a warehouse and SAP Commerce to scale easily. If your business model requires another brand to start working in Direct to Consumer you can use the same catalog and create a new channel in a small period of time compared to other solutions.

Ease of Integration

SAP Commerce is build with state-of-art integration technology, all data in the commerce framework can be exposed as a ODATA web service, so you can integrate in a brezze with other solutions. As a standar now we can have webhooks to send data to other systems. In terms of SAP solutions there are a lot of standard integrations flows in SAP Integration Suite. Also for legacy systmes you can use Hotfolder Cloud too.

Alternatives Considered

Magento Commerce Cloud (formerly Magento), PrestaShop and OpenCart

In terms of price is not comparable with Open Source platforms, but not in capabilities, functionality, security, customization and many other things either. I use this system for different clients, and I can assure you that every project has his right solution. Sometimes SAP Hybris is the best, and sometimes small systems are right for you. In terms of other big systems, I can tell you that if you have SAP ERP / S4HANA there is no other E-commerce Platform that you can consider, and if you don't have SAP ERP / S4HANA there is a lot of chance that you would choose SAP Hybris over other systems.
