Overall Satisfaction with ScienceLogic SL1

We use ScienceLogic as our ticketing system and to monitor devices in our customers' networks.

Pros

  • Monitors devices

Cons

  • Looks and feels like something from the early 90s. They promised an updated, sleeker system with better functions since version 8.0 and that was almost 2 years ago.
  • Emailing from ticketing system doesn't work and never really has. And from what sales guys have said they don't even use it internally.
  • With every update or version, the system seems to lose more function or it becomes something you have to pay for.
  • Bulk edit halfway works, but not for anything that is useful.
It helps track tickets for the NOC but the rest of the company has no use for it.
We are only using it to track ticket and monitor network devices, however, most times it's only for devices that don't come with their own cloud-based monitoring.
Doesn't integrate very well. It takes a lot of man-hours to try and figure out how to get this system to work with other systems, or even figure out if we can use it with other systems. Most of the time, we just have the other systems like Meraki email to ScienceLogic so it will have a ticket we can use to log notes and fixes.
  • We haven't found any innovative ways to use it. Most times we can get it to work right for the things we bought it for.
  • ScienceLogic is cheap, which helps with the bottom line. But you will spend a lot of time trying to make other systems work with it.
  • We've spent too much time spent trying to get the product to integrate or work with this system, loss of billable hours.
ScienceLogic is garbage compared to the competition. We only went with it cause it was cheap and we had to have a system.
It's cheap, and if you're broke, it will do. But I would recommend SolarWinds or GFIMax before ScienceLogic.
