Overall Satisfaction with Slack

Slack is being used across the whole SAP organization. It allows us to communicate and share files.
  • Slack allows for real-time communication, both at the organizational level and personal level, thanks to the channels you can create.
  • The quality of voice calls and screen sharing is high.
  • The instant messaging service has many useful and unique features. I like a lot that you can share code snippets, which is great for software developers.
  • The Slack learning curve is relatively high, especially for non-tech people, learning to use Slack might take some time.
  • There are not many themes, and the existing ones are mainly a change in the color palette.
  • Slack minimizes the time required to communicate or get in contact with someone.
  • As calls and messages are free, the cost is highly reduced for employees.
Slack has more features and provides higher quality of calls. Also media can be shared easily and be managed apart from messages. For software developers, Slack provides more features than other products, like sharing code snippets, files, and scripts. Slack also has the channels feature, which allows us to communicate at different organization levels.
I haven't used the support from Slack yet.

Yes

Slack is well suited for organizations which are geographically distributed among many cities/countries. For small groups or those that are physically located at the same place, it may not be the best way to go.
Also for organizations with multiple derpaments/divisions, the channels provide a natural solution to have both general communication and group-specific communication.

Yes, but I don't use it
I think that Slack has a high learning curve. It may be difficult to use at the beginning, specially if you are not a tech person. But once you learn to use it, the product works great for you specific needs, as it has many features and tools which fit into many situations.
