Overall Satisfaction with Slack

We use Slack as our main and official means of communication within the company. We use it both for day-to-day communication, for sharing project updates, and as an official channel for important company announcements as well. Slack helps us address issues quickly, keep our colleagues updated on important matters, and also bring us closer to the people we work with, especially since we operate in a remote/hybrid work model.

Pros

  • Quick and efficient communication among colleagues
  • Quick polls to define alignments and make timely decisions within the team
  • Organization and customization
  • Integration with other work tools

Cons

  • The Huddle feature is a good idea, but it doesn’t work well for me. I always encounter technical issues and have to keep leaving and rejoining the room. I usually prefer to use another call tool when I need to speak with someone quickly.
  • Since we are able to align and communicate quickly through Slack, in addition to setting up automations to speed up certain processes, I believe Slack has a positive impact on our productivity, and consequently, on the company’s profits.
Overall, Slack is very intuitive; you don’t need extensive technical knowledge to understand how to use it. I appreciate the organization—it’s easy to find what you’re looking for, and you can also customize it to your liking.
Slack has so many more features. They do a great job at delivering what they set out to do.

Yes

I highly recommend using Slack. It works really well for quick communications, and we can maintain alignment with the whole team. You can create channels for different teams, and you can customize permissions, etc. So, I believe it works well for companies of all sizes. I don’t see any downside to adopting Slack.
