Overall Satisfaction with Slack
As a remote company, we primarily use Slack as our primary communication method, rather than email. We have "channels" for specific customers, our whole organization, live incidents, marketing, teams that collaborate, etc. This is a much more efficient and organized way to communicate compared to email. It is faster, more precise, and you can easily track the conversation's history.
Pros
- Great simple interface. The use of emojis is high to express gratitude or confirm receipt of a message, without requiring every person to add additional messages.
- You can start a side conversation in a group message to silo some conversation and not have those messages clutter up the main page.
- It's reliable and easy to use. simple interface. You can also live chat with someone and share your screen, which is heavily used by our team.
Cons
- I would love it if Slack had some AI to help summarize and document information spoken from live chat meetings or within messages.
- There is an option to pin messages, allowing you to reference them later within a chat easily. I would like to see this implemented for all channels and messages, allowing each user to use it as a to-do list.
- I would like it if, on Slack live chats, you could turn on our screen to see the other person; currently, it is just voice communication.
- We work faster and more accurately, everyone is able to follow along, and if you are added to a conversation, you have the option to see all the previous messages or not.
- Helps us work more effectively with team members from different time zones, as Slack notifies us of this.
- Our collaboration is streamlined.
Slack is much more streamlined, simplified, and straightforward to use than Teams, offering better functionality, such as the chat voice option with screen sharing. We love the emojis and GIFs; they make working more fun and personalized. I love that there are no read receipts. Teams feels more cluttered and clunky. Slack has all the functionality you would need.
