Splashtop Consulting Review
Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop
I used Sphlashtop as an end user. I am a consultant for a non-profit and handle some of their budgeting and accounting functions. Splashtop allows me to login into my clients financial systems remotely as I am located in Las Vegas and my client is in Baltimore. They have been using Splashtop to allow internal and external users remote access for enhanced functionality within the organization.
Pros
- typically a seemless browser like login to the remote computer
- The error ticketing system works well
- Quick access to systems with low latency is my general experience
Cons
- Splashtop had a functionality issue with a Mac OS upgrade recently that prevented remote access for about two weeks. I had to request tickets directly and they had known about the impending issue without a collaborative solution between them and Apple.
- Better Beta testing for version upgrades is always needed. Software is constantly changing so these types of platforms need to be at the forefront of resolving interoperability issues with Mac, Windows, Linux, etc.
- The tech support for the issue I experience could have been more proactive. I was providing my client's IT provider and Splashtop with updates on the bug issue, where it should have been the other way around.
- Splashtop provides a robust RMM platform to handle a diverse userbase
- The ease of use of Splashtop makes it appealing to end users to be up and running quickly without a great learning curve.
- The only negative I experience was a versioning issue with Mac OS a few months ago. The OS updates are typically seamless, but that one issue created a lack of access a productivity on assigned work from my client for a week and a half.
The platform works very well in general in regards to remote access in a secure manner. I like the file transfer functionality from machine to machine. Overall, I believe that Splashtop is a secure platform that uses multiple security features to keep clients data secure and compliant across various industries.
As an end user, the onboarding experience was pretty straight forward. I was able to select the appropriate operating system, download the client on my machine, and was up and running in minutes. I have also used Splashtop as an admin for a client. Both user experience was clear and concise.
