Overall Satisfaction with Tealium Customer Data Hub

As a replacement to Adobe Audience Manager. It is also morphing into our
Outreach CDP. Our primary business challenge is audience segmentation.
We need a way to aggregate many IDs and track users over many months.
Personalization is now another opportunity for the CDP. Another emerging
use is a preliminary customer profile before Salesforce. Tealium
receives early, anonymous data from several sources that can,
eventually, stitch into a real person.

Pros

Cons

  • Training and support docs assume we have the full stack. We do not have IQ and have to reverse-engineer some of the documentation for Adobe Launch.
  • Wish the Databricks connector was ready 3 years ago! We are struggling to connect into our data lake.
  • The connector to Adobe Experience Platform does not have helpful errors. We are not sure what is wrong and need both Tealium Customer Data Hub and Adobe expertise to solve the issue.

  • Flexibility to drive events and data to 3rd-parties
  • Reducing our reliance on Salesforce (new realization)
  • I wish I had good ROI measures. We have struggled to finish the implementation and build-out the data connections that add value
  • We foresee great improvements in personalization and privacy compliance
Overall, support is above average. We have been hung-up on some issues for months at a time. Part of our struggle is with acquiring talent and training our team, not the company or support staff. The attitude is great.

Strong when dealing with diverse data sources and destinations. In our dynamic, diverse technologies of online education, we need an agnostic CDP that can connect and orchestrate increasingly complex and personalized journeys. Tealium is capable.

Weak when integrating with Adobe stack. We use many Adobe Experience Cloud products, minus their real-time CDP product. Tealium does not adequately replace the RTCDP service.

Using Tealium Customer Data Hub

4 - Analytics engineers. We have invited a few MarComm users, and some IT data engineers. None have returned yet.
2 - A dedicated CDP manager for the infrastructure and data connections, and me, an analytics architect. I am responsible for connecting and securing data for analytics and soon experience personalization.
  • authoritative customer data for analytics. Stitching users into a reliable customer data profile
  • Pre-load customer data from interactions that eventually will end-up in Salesforce. Salesforce doesn't learn about someone until they are officially applying. Tealium collects information leading up to this point, to enrich Salesforce and enable agile marketing and personalization.
  • Support adaptive stack development with real-time customer data and events. Our Angular stack can connect with Tealium user data to personalize.
  • Reduce confusion over when user metrics apply to each user. We consolidated the logic into Tealium to get it out of code.
  • Better privacy controls on data flows
  • Removing 3rd-party marketing tags from the web site by sending JIT marketing interactions to each vendor, according to our privacy policies.
We are just beginning to use it effectively. We hope to continue this growth and realize compounding benefits.
