Overall Satisfaction with Trello

Trello is currently used in our department as a Kanban board for agile development. We can add sufficient requirements, designs and task lists which give enough detail in a clear interface. The board can be shown to stakeholders in the business as the information is clearly presented.

Pros

  • User friendly interface
  • Cross device, desktop, mobile, app
  • Email notifications

Cons

  • Being able to notify a group of individuals instead of one by one
  • Enforce a workflow or approval
  • Improved detail in morning stand up meetings
  • Greater cross functional communication
Trello is much more user friendly, and can be displayed on projectors or TVs to act as a Kanban board. JIRA has far more detail, and perhaps is not as intuitive. JIRA does however integrate well with Bitbucket, workflows, time estimates and burndown charts. For complex development, JIRA is my preferred tool. For smaller, rapid development, Trello is well suited.
Trello is great for organising simple processes where different disciplines come together. For our department, that was our agile development teams. We can all access, add detail, add designs, add comments and assign cards backwards and forwards as required.
Where we have found Trello to be less appropriate, is in complex workflows. If there are too many columns and cards, it can be difficult to find and move cards.
