WatchGuard's AuthPoint - 5 Star Solution
Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard AuthPoint
WatchGuard's AuthPoint is currently used as an authentication method for our endpoint device access for our Domain Users, endpoint device access for our Domain Admins, and VPN Access for our remote users. This allows us to authenticate access by Domain security groups utilizing the LDAP integration offered by AuthPoint. We are currently working on implementing AuthPoint into our Office 365 solution as well as third-party RMM and accounting products.
- Ease of use
- Ease of Implemenetation
- Third party integration
- Third party token backups
- Restore / migration of token profiles to new devices
- Pricing
- Cloud Management Access Policies (more granular restricted user groups)
- Moving away from JDK required LDAP integration
- MSSP Model has included it as a Value Added Service
- Ala Carte model has been unsuccessful at implementing as a solution
- Google Authenticator, LastPass for Business and Azure Multi-Factor Authentication (Discontinued)
WatchGuard's AuthPoint has been a breeze to implement and manage as compared to other vendor solutions and its third-party integrations put it in on a level beyond comparison.
While WatchGuard's AuthPoint solution has been designed to be a cloud-based service, its third-party integrations can require some hardware configuration, including Fireboxes, LDAP, and other endpoints. While it is cloud-managed, it is not a 100% cloud-based solution.
WatchGuard's Authpoint solution has had mixed reactions from users regarding requiring users to use their privately-owned devices to access company-owned equipment. In this environment, we have utilized hardware-based tokens, however, most end users have adopted AuthPoint without issue once informed and trained on how to utilize it as an option for their own third-party access.
Due to our client environments, we have not combined AuthPoint with SSO as a majority of our third-party applications continue to require separate authentication.
