Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security

WatchGuard firewalls are full of advanced features that help keep businesses of all sizes secure. While some features require some planning and integration, utilizing all of the features of the firewall can have great visibility about traffic that is transiting through the network appliances, and advanced security features that can limit or eliminate damage from cybersecurity threats.

Pros

  • Cloud management and reporting.
  • Automating updates.
  • Integration with Active Directory, MFA, and other services.

Cons

  • Tighter integration with Azure AD for "cloud native" client deployments.
  • More tools to migrate a local configuration to a "cloud managed" configuration.
  • For MSPs, integration with PSA tools via cloud vs. at the device level.
  • 95% customer subscription renewal (retention rate).

We're still converting some locally-managed devices to cloud-managed, but can see the benefits of having some policies being able to be set centrally to apply across all firewalls (deploying new tools, etc.).
We utilize WatchGuard AuthPoint MFA and it integrates well in the Cloud environment. We also use WatchGuard Cloud-managed firewalls which work well.
No, we are a WatchGuard Gold partner so implemented the solution ourselves. We have multiple certified WatchGuard technicians on staff.
The WatchGuard unit we have is a NFR unit that includes 3-years of Total Security, so all features are available to us. This helps make sure that we are using all of the features that can help keep our organization well protected at the network layer.
From a feature and ease of use perspective, WatchGuard stacks up well against its competitors. Having experience with many other competing products, I believe that the WatchGuard firewalls are easier to configure, install, and maintain than others with similar features.

WatchGuard has a range of devices, from small tabletop units that are suitable for home or small office solutions, to large rack-mount units that scale to handle multi-Gigabit throughput. And almost all features are available on all of their units (if you have the Total Security subscription), so scaling up or down is easy to do.
