AB Tasty is a SAAS application created for e-marketers that enables them to optimize their website and conversion rate without technical knowledge. AB Tasty
Chose AB Tasty
AB Tasty is far more affordable than most of them, but with the same functionality and better reporting (reporting looks similar to Optimizely). Monetate requires an agency or a dedicated CRO team to manage and run tests, and is best for large companies with a lot of traffic …
Chose AB Tasty
AB Tasty is more of a marketer's tool. It's much better when it comes to QA, handly and reliable. There is a great customer support chat available in 5 minutes.
Chose AB Tasty
The product roadmap is interesting. Support is quite professional. Features are very useful.
Chose AB Tasty
Optimize does not support SPAs, it was a deal breaker for us. AB Tasty supports it very well.

AB Tasty and Google Optimize are both A/B testing tools designed to help businesses test the performance of different versions of web content. Both A/B testing tools are used by businesses of all sizes, though AB Tasty is a little more popular with mid-sized businesses, and enterprises. At the same time, Google Optimize is more popular with smaller businesses. This may be due to Google Optimizes free offering that is usable for small businesses on a budget.

Features

Google Optimize and AB Tasty both offer essential A/B Testing features such as split testing, but they also have a few standout features that set them apart from each other.

AB Tasty provides robust customization features for pages, including custom CSS and JavaScript. These features allowed skilled developers to make complex changes within the AB Tasty page editor. AB Tasty also provides scenario testing features that let users visualize and step through different page designs before publishing them. Lastly, it is possible to run many tests at once using AB Tasty, so it is a great choice for organizations with many pages that need to be tested at once.

Google Optimize provides a clean, easy to use interface and essential A/B testing features at no charge. Google Optimize is usable for non-technical staff and allows for simple changes to pages for testing without writing code. Additionally, users can leverage Google Optimizes targeting features to target users by behavior, geography, or technology used. These targeting features are important for testing changes for specific browsers or regions.

Limitations

Though Google Optimize and AB Tasty both include robust A/B testing features, they also have a few limitations that are important to consider.

AB Tasty can be difficult for non-technical users to use, and making complex changes to pages is challenging without developers who are skilled in CSS or JavaScript. This complexity can make AB Tasty a poor choice for businesses with limited technical resources to dedicate to A/B testing. Additionally, AB Tasty offers a free trial, but no forever-free version of the software. For businesses looking for a cheaper A/B testing option, AB Tasty may not be an appropriate choice.

Google Optimize is simple to use but isn’t able to make complex changes to pages through custom scripts. Lack of complexity may be a dealbreaker for businesses looking to test very different versions of pages, or pages that differ in script-based functionality. Additionally, Google Optimize is missing some analytics features such as heatmaps and doesn’t provide a survey tool for directly gauging user opinions. Lastly, Google Optimize only allows for 5 simultaneous tests.

Pricing

AB Tasty is priced depending on the business and doesn’t provide published pricing information.

Google Optimize is a free product, though Google also offers a premium version called Optimize 360, which includes more advanced features such as a visual editor and additional simultaneous testing. Similarly to AB Tasty, Google Optimize has no published price but can provide quotes as requested.

AB Tasty
A/B Tasty tool allows us do easy testing without burdening our limited developer resources all the time. Reports are simple enough to interpret. Support has been excellent and proactive, also the onboarding was successful. It is also an advantage that we have the possibility to drive all our traffic to the test versions rather than being limited to specific user amount per month. We can recommend A/B Tasty for testing purposes, as the platform keeps it’s promises, doesn’t require too much technical knowledge and the support is excellent.

Google Optimize is well suited for testing small changes on the browser pages. You have the option of changing designs, texts, and some small features on the page. The audience can be divided using a long list of factors, so it makes it quite easy to set up the test. It is not well suited for complicated feature tests where you need to monitor the user over a long period or where the user is likely to use multiple sessions across multiple devices or browsers

Pros
AB Tasty
  • Customer-focused. Over the past year, AB Tasty has worked with us to overcome many obstacles (e.g. tracking hurdles, ITP issues, etc.). The team always finds a solution in a timely manner to ensure we're able to execute on experiments.
  • Reliability. One of the biggest hurdles earlier this year were the ITP regulations set out by Apple. Over 40% of our ad traffic was Safari users. AB Tasty was using 3rd party cookies but quickly migrated over to a local session storage solution that circumvented the issue.

Google
  • Easy to follow set up procedures. Once I walk a client through the process, it's effortless for them to emulate on subsequent tests.
  • Lots of geo and user attribute customization features to be able to drill down into specific targeted audiences — all based on the power of Google's immense data system.
  • Google Optimize is the logical choice for many people to start with since most are already familiar with and using GA.

Cons
AB Tasty
  • Sometimes the platform is a little glitchy and requires a refresh.
  • Would be great to be able to see the experiments and projects on a timeline with their status and main result to have an immediate view of ongoing and completed projects.
  • Email notification for when an experiment reaches a certain confidence level.

AB Tasty's tool as well as the support team completely met my goals on A/B Testing. Editing a test is really easy and AB Tasty made the marketing team free to launch nearly any test. Reporting is also easy to set up and give us the information needed to keep improving transformation on landing pages and forms

Support is good, but it would be better if it was quicker or if AB Tasty provided a quicker SLA. At times, you require stuff urgently but AB Tasty support isn't as quick as I personally like it to be.

Alternatives Considered
AB Tasty
We selected AB Tasty mostly because we got a sense that their dev and customer service teams were going to go above and beyond to help us out. We were right! The cost was also a factor as they came in a small bit lower, but cost wasn't the only factor.

Google Optimize being part of the Google stack makes it great in reporting and analysis. Wish Google would add more features like dynamic tests, multi funnel tests, conversion calculator based on the total number of traffic of the page being tested instead of using the websites total traffic. Should integrate form analysis, heatmap, and page analytics.

AB Tasty
  • Since we use AB tasty our conversion rates have significantly increased on the Watch pages.
  • We can report positive comments about the evolutions of our interfaces, from our expert users. And so improved customer satisfaction.
  • The solution allows us to validate or invalidate without taking major risk while gaining in reactivity, our proposals relook pages.
  • Commitment rates are much higher, multiplied by 2 or 3, when we implement customizations that are relevant. These customizations are very relevant insofar as we are governed by the seasonality of events as a media site.

  • We were able to increase secondary KPIs for conversions by almost 30% by testing form design.
