Acumatica 5.0

Fairly easy and intuitive user interface with common features throughout the platform makes it easy to train users new to the system. However, it requires a lot of dev customization with limited features that a power user/administrator can manipulate. Doesn't provide a very customized experience to the individual user. Seems that the best scenario is for companies that will use implementation and customization services to maximize the features of Acumatica.

I feel AccountEdge is almost universally well suited for most small & medium businesses - either manufacturing or service based. There are a few caveats however. The first thing that needs to be assessed is how the product will be used. If a user desires a cloud based product, this may not the the right accounting suite for them. While there is some cloud functionality with the addition of AccountEdge Cloud as a data entry portal, it must be understood that ultimately the database resides somewhere on someone's desktop and continual syncing is required. Another area that for some is tricky, is inventory valuation. The value is tracked by averaging the product cost vs first in first out (FIFO). Once the user passes these initial questions, the versatility of the software makes it easy to accommodate a variety of business models. I especially use it with creatives - photographers, writers, agents, producers, artists, designers, etc. The job (project) tracking especially shines here with the facilitation of budget creation.

Cons

Acumatica 5.0

  • Most of our salespeople rely on their Mobile Phones to access Acumatica, and we feel that the Mobile App of Acumatica needs improvement. The functionalities are limited, therefore we need to access a desktop or laptop to create some entries.

  • Better custom reporting setup, current interface (AccountEdge Pro-2015) is rather dated.
  • I don't think the interface use for the custom reporting has been updated even in the 2018 version
  • Still has a bit of "wonky" interface when exporting Excel reports ( wants to over-right open files)

AccountEdge Pro & Basic is laid out in easy to use centers which compartmentalize a users needs based on departments. Along with that one can set up recurring transactions for things that repeat daily through annually and anything in between. You can set a preference for automatic posting or a user specific reminder to post the action

I liked the flexibility of Salesforce and the ability to customize look and feel with minimal development involvement. Email integration was smooth and seamless. However, Acumatica's ability to customize certain business processes to meet our particular day to day operational needs and account based fee as opposed to user based fees made it a better option for our organization.
