Alchemer (formerly SurveyGizmo)

SurveyGizmo works extremely well as a platform for receiving survey responses. As a survey/business analytics tool, the platform offers extensive options for customization and deployment of professional questionnaires. Our team has found SurveyGizmo to be extremely well suited for the modern administrative employee. Surveys are relatively easy to create, deploy, and manage responses in real time. Furthermore, monitoring / managing the results enables businesses to provide any necessary follow-up based on key results. Our team spends quite a bit of time testing out survey tools and have found SurveyGizmo to be a solid option for the needs of our team. Furthermore, we have recommended the platform to other departments within our organization that have uniquely different skillsets from our own. Overall, we see SurveyGizmo as a tool that can be used across most organizational teams if implemented with the specific user-experience in mind.

Typeform

I believe that Typeform is the best solution on the market for custom web forms, surveys, and more. The opportunities are really endless when you think about how forms can be used in a company - lead generation, user engagement surveys, training quiz, idea generation, etc. The information you collect can then be manipulated or sent to another service to automate processes within the organization

Pros

Alchemer (formerly SurveyGizmo)

  • Attaching images! Survey Gizmo makes attaching images from surveys a breeze. I've tried other popular survey tools and it can be difficult for users to submit images as part of their survey (e.g. some only allow 1 picture per question, whereas Survey Gizmo allows a range for you to select from)
  • Easy and intuitive survey building.
  • Pretty good out-of-the-box survey analysis.

Typeform

  • Creating a form is really easy, no knowledge of coding is needed.
  • I like how you can navigate almost their entire website using only your keyboard. I think it shows new users that the forms you create can be navigated just as easily.
  • The ability to create a custom Thank You screen is great too. It allows your users to feel like this form was created specifically for them by you, not just generated online.

Cons

Alchemer (formerly SurveyGizmo)

  • Duplicate protection needs improvement. Anyone who would like to start a survey and finish at a later time is unable to which limits total survey responses.
  • Password protection option can be a challenge when uploading spreadsheets with pre-populated data.
  • Logic and piping options for questions can be difficult when designing more complicated and in-depth surveys, which requires a lot of testing.
  • Follow-up surveys do not provide an option for survey takers to review their previous survey responses, which may provide less accurate data when comparing individuals across multiple surveys.
  • Would like the option to link surveys together in order to more easily track data from individuals across multiple surveys and save previous survey data.

Typeform

  • I would love to see improved integrations of Typeform with the other tools that we use. While Typeform's in-app chat integration with Intercom is great, it doesn't cover ALL of our use cases with issuing surveys, and we'd really like to see support for email surveys that are easy and quick for recipients to submit without additional hassle.
  • We will always welcome additional insights/analytics provided with the feedback results that come in for our Typeforms. The more presentable they are, the more we can use them for internal and external use. Typeform just recently added a 'Stories' beta that caters to this so we're excited to see what more they'll be doing with it.
  • While most of our team is pretty tech savvy and very independently figures out new technology, starting out with creating a first Typeform survey may be more challenging with other less technological teams, as their creator is very conservative with real estate and uses icons instead of titles for links (though you can mouse over the menu to see the title of an item).

The feature sets, agility, and flexibility remain approachable and incredibly powerful. Support is also very responsive and top notch. Overall, with a bit of basic foundational skills, there are seemingly an unlimited number of use cases for which Alchemer can be leveraged.

The overall usability of Typeform is extremely easy and self explanatory. It was quick and simple to learn how to create surveys with the templates and how to add and customize the type of answers or questions you ask. It is very easy to pull the data from the survey results, where the data is broken down and has nice graphs.

Every once in awhile, it is necessary to solicit support. On those occasions, support is extremely responsive and supportive. It has been my experience that [if] they can't walk you through the desired endpoint, they will take a look at your build and remedy for you.

Typeform has a great help section that ranges from first steps, making a form, and question types to results and account and profile settings. The tutorials are short and concisely cover what you need to get going within a couple of minutes. I think the community is also a plus, as one can ask questions about more complex outcomes or if one gets stuck with a particularly unique form creation scenario.

Alternatives Considered

Alchemer (formerly SurveyGizmo)

I liked the interface for SurveyGizmo much more than Qualtrics. You knew a question was adjusted in SurveyGizmo and wouldn't change, but with Qualtric's interface, you had to refresh the account several times sometimes to ensure the question would work appropriately. Also, with SG, there were a lot of easier capabilities, such as changing missing values in bulk, required questions in bulk, etc.

Typeform

When looking for a feature rich & flexible / customizable solution, Typeform beats out everyone. However, for specific use cases (like NPS), AskNicely is a clear winner in terms of features, but is much too expensive. Typeform is also fun to use, especially compared to Wufoo which seems so out of date

Return on Investment

Alchemer (formerly SurveyGizmo)

  • It has always delivered on all our business objectives. I think that the reason why it's a bit [more] expensive than other providers.
  • It has helped us to optimize resources especially man hours involved in survey design.
  • It has been a valuable partner in almost all [of] our uses.

Typeform

  • Typeform is relatively cheap. This helps keeps cost down and ensure a positive ROI.
  • The ability to accept online payment and set up an online store is phenomenal. In theory, you don't even need a website any more for an online store. Just a domain forwarded to your Typeform.
