Likelihood to Recommend Authorize.net is reliable and I feel confident that customers' information is protected. The security protocols used by Authorize.net appear to be as good, and probably better than many credit card payment processors. However, the initial setup process was very difficult. I distinctly recall getting up and running as being very cumbersome and time-consuming. I also was disappointed with how the processing and deposit of payments were not consistent. I distinctly remember regretting the decision to go with Authorize.net. However, as mentioned before, with the time and effort required to get the account set up and running, I refused to go through the process again and try a different provider.
Read full review Checkout offers great service and expertise and stands above its peers in full-service offering, integration, and ongoing support. However, Checkout is not suitable in a scenario where Paysend is fully licensed and a direct acquirer of the scheme. In this scenario, Paysend can perform the full value chain in-house.
Read full review Pros Very smooth workflow to authorizing, capturing, voiding, and refunding charges. This can all be done via API calls, or through their online dashboard. Their AVS settings for validating credit cards are substantial and have been reliable in ensuring that our customers cards are being used safely and properly. Their uptime and response times are very good in general. The only issues we ever have communicating with their services is when our connection quality is compromised. Read full review They provide excellent advice from knowledgeable subject matter experts on all things payments. They adapt quickly to our business-changing needs, helping us stay agile as our business grows. They provide trustworthy and reliable services that enable us to take payments with as little friction as possible. They are as passionate about performance as we are, working closely with us to ensure we maximize the chances of success for every transaction. Read full review Cons The lack of data portability is a big issue for me. Authorize.net uses the same $49.00 gateway setup fee to scam merchants out of money, which is no better than any of the other gateways out there. Their customer service is not up to the mark. You can get stuck if you need any help from their end. Read full review Their dashboard can get better. They have been making improvements Faster settlements as it's a bit of a pain to have big reserves till ACH clears every day Much stronger consumer facing brand name in the US so more end customers trust the links powered by Checkout.com Read full review Likelihood to Renew Authorize.net has been a useful system for our Chamber. We appreciate the ease of use and access to our Main Frame. Read full review We have a long term contract and we already have them in our plans for the next 5 years.
Read full review Reliability and Availability In the last 3 years that I have been working with Checkout.com, they had an unplanned outage that lasted less than a few minutes. Their uptime is amazing. If they have maintenance, unlike banks, they don't have downtime during this time. We frequently require their support and Checkout.com responds to us within minutes. When we have important rollouts, I schedule calls with our merchant support manager to monitor the rollout/perform tests, etc. It is always easy to find time lost even with short notice.
Read full review Performance Checkout.com performance as an acquirer and a PSP is excellent. We have too many transactions per day, therefore reports take some time to generate before they are available for downloading. But it indeed takes reasonable time. We use native/h2h integration therefore, there is no redirection issue, all pages load quickly on our side. Based on my experience, Checkout.com will never never integrate with software or systems that will slow them down. Amongst all payment methods they offer, all are processed immediately, without delays.
Read full review Support Rating I have no experience directly with the support offered by Authorize.Net.
Read full review When we were discovering the possibility of opening an entity in the United States to process transactions as domestic cards, Checkout.com did not just quickly provide the requirements to open that market as we asked them to but showed us slides with all the possibilities we had for each of their licenses in the world, calculating an estimate of the acquiring costs and acceptance rate we would have, based on the cross-border volumes we were processing with them, to evaluate other ways to improve our business.
Read full review Alternatives Considered Authorize.net is a reliable and affordable payment processing service that offers more robust security than other services, such as Stripe or PayPal with their monthly fees at $25 dollars month lot of people may be turned off by these high prices but you get what you pay for - protection against fraud in risky transactions so I would recommend using Authorize.net if this matters to your business!

CyberSource and Ingenico provided poor support on any types of issues. Integration was a nightmare as it took months just to set them up as compared to Checkout.com. Checkout.com provided us with quick integration and constant monitoring of our transactions which is what we really needed.
Read full review Scalability Our tech team implemented payments API to process payments online. Analytics team receives transaction repots that we use to build our own performance dashboards and help to reconcile transactions. API is indeed flexible - we don't use all features but if required we can easily implement them. When Checkout.com adds new features or functionalities, some of them can be used even on an older API version which saved us tech resources and implementation time. We use the same API to expand into new markets - technically we don't need to change anything when we want to launch payments in a new country.
Read full review Return on Investment Lets us charge cards so we can get paid on time, every time. It was very difficult to setup the DocuSign integration the first time, but after we got it setup, it's made the onboarding process very easy. That probably saves about 30 minutes every time we get a new client. Read full review Checkout has allowed us to enter markets worldwide without having to find a new provider—the same seamless experience across Europe, the UK, and Australia. The efficient chargeback setup on the portal allows us to monitor and respond to chargebacks promptly and efficiently, and help is always available for cases that are a little less black or white.
