If you are a local business owner or marketing agency catering to local businesses, BrightLocal is a must have software. Moz Local is a great alternative as well as a compliment to Yext. The service has a smaller network but is just as powerful. The dashboard is super easy to load your location information into and allows the product to do the work by distributing the data across platforms. Issues are easily identifiable and can easily be corrected. Depending on your service level package, you also can have access to reviews and be able to monitor those as you see fit. I would strongly recommend this service to anyone who has a local business they are looking to get seen across the web. For a larger business, I'd consider a larger company with a bigger network.

WordPress VIP really changed the game when it comes to WordPress CMS and Content Management. A one-stop shop for all our client's business needs. We are focusing on Content Management instead of technicalities. The big advantage is the security features covering all recent vulnerabilities that any WordPress developer/user wastes lots of precious time fixing/updating. Performance-wise, WordPress VIP is definitely up there. We’ve been doing lots of optimization work over the last few years. Every client wants to score 100. With WordPress VIP we decreased the time spent on optimization significantly and now feel confident with taking more performance optimisation work than we did before. Lastly, maybe the most important for every business is the support quality. WordPress VIP runs a superb support team with phenomenal knowledge and expertise. Quick to respond and solves issues here and now. It is definitely recommended.

Pros
BrightLocal
  • When we use BrightLocal's citation building service, I know that we're getting quality citations done right. Their staff will email you with any questions and always double check the information before creating inaccurate citations.
  • I love that BrightLocal is very quick about making changes when requested. For example, if we can't find a city on the drop-down list, you can chat them and they'll add it. Or if a report is pulling incorrectly, they'll re-run it within a reasonable timeframe.
  • BrightLocal has a lot of different reports that are easy to send to your clients. You can even add them to a web-viewable dashboard so that your client can simply bookmark a link and view their reports when they please.

Cons
BrightLocal
  • Up and down rankings were not always right on with the local search, but only off by one or two spots
  • It felt like it was only used for local SEO, and I know there are more features, just never got to them.
  • Didn't seem useful for every single client in the way Ahrefs or Spyfu did

  • Expansion of network.
  • Needs to be easier to access, too many clicks within Moz suite.
  • Generally speaking, they are solid.

  • Everything should have the same look and feel.

Support Rating
BrightLocal
Although their customer support has always contacted me, they have not always been helpful. Many times I've had reports or information disappear with them telling me they had no record of it, even when I had reports that the information was in there. There are times when their system did have bugs and the support was able to help me there. Overall, the support staff is there but they cannot always do much and need to wait for their development team to get back to them which often takes a long time.

The people who work for WordPress VIP clearly are passionate about representing the organisation. Therefore when support is required, they do go above and beyond what you may expect in terms of overall support. They take security very seriously, and due to the nature of VIP, it's rarely a concern for the end-user, if at all.

Alternatives Considered
BrightLocal
Thryv reached out to me about 3 weeks before signing up with BrightLocal. While all of their features were impressive, there were only about 3 features that I would have used. Thryv wanted $200 per month for their service, which I found to be way overpriced for what I was wanting to use it for. I selected BrightLocal because it had the features I wanted at a lower price and then add ons. After using BrightLocal for a week and speaking with Becki, a customer service executive, I have discovered more features that I would use on BrightLocal than on Thryv.

Moz is just as good as Yext, the only major difference is the size of the network.

Our team manages 4 different brands' websites and before WordPress VIP we were using multiple different hosts including DreamHost and AWS. These were convoluted and didn't offer the enterprise features for our organization that WP VIP was capable of. We also considered Pantheon, but they were not Wordpress-centric enough for the direction we were going.

  • BrightLocal's ranking reports have helped us better serve our clients' SEO needs, especially local SEO.
  • Reporting is nicely accomplished with their online client report dashboards.
  • Negative: some of their software defects are glaringly obvious take forever to fix, creating a number of awkward moments when we talk our clients through their reports.

Moz Local Screenshots

Screenshot of GeoRank, which offers a precise view of how a business and competitors rank in Google’s local search results across different neighborhoods. Because search results change based on a person’s location, traditional rank tracking doesn’t show the full picture. With GeoRank, you can set grids around your service area, track keyword rankings at multiple points, and visualize performance on interactive maps. See where you’re winning, where competitors outrank you, and how your visibility changes over time. GeoRank helps uncover opportunities to strengthen local SEO and expand a brand's reach.Screenshot of Insights in Moz Local, which connect directly with a Google Business Profile to show how customers are finding and engaging with a business. Track key actions like website clicks, direction requests, and phone calls to understand how listing drives leads over time. See which search keywords bring people to a profile, spot trends, and uncover opportunities to improve visibility. Insights offer a deeper look at customer behavior.Screenshot of Listings AI, which helps to keep a business's listings optimized as markets, competitors, and customer behaviors change. By analyzing reviews, engagement signals, keywords, and competitor data, it generates tailored recommendations that follow SEO best practices and align with local search trends. You’ll see suggestions for categories, services, and attributes—each with clear impact metrics—so you know which updates will boost visibility. It is available with Elite plans (or as an add-on for Lite and Preferred).Screenshot of Locations in Moz Local, where users manage and update business details to keep listings accurate and consistent across the web. From one dashboard, you can edit core information like name, address, hours, services, categories, and attributes, as well as upload images and add custom fields. Auto-sync ensures changes are pushed to directories automatically, saving you time and preventing errors. You can also view edit history, set warnings to avoid duplicate content, and group locations for easier management.Screenshot of Networks in Moz Local. which offers a centralized view of all the directories, social platforms, and review sites a business can connect to. From here, you can see which locations are linked, ready to link, or need updates, and quickly manage connections across platforms like Google, Facebook, and Yelp. The Networks table shows linking status and highlights any missing data or issues.Screenshot of Reviews Sentiment in Moz Local, which helps understand how customers feel about a business by analyzing the language used in their reviews. Track sentiment trends over time, see top keywords driving positive or negative feedback, and explore interactive word clouds to quickly spot themes. With color-coded insights and keyword-level detail, you can identify what customers love, uncover areas for improvement, and take action to strengthen your reputation. Sentiment reports can be filtered, shared, or exported, so marketing teams stay aligned on customer feedback and business impact.
