Buffer is one of the best social media management tools out there, particularly for its cost. Our team used the Pro Plan for just $15 a month which allows you to connect up to eight social media accounts, which was more than enough for us. A larger company might need to look into a higher cost plan, but small marketing teams can absolutely utilize this plan for $15. Buffer is great for scheduling social media in advance and keeping your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts thriving.

Zoho Social

Since setting up our account we've noticed that Zoho makes some excellent recommendations for posting times based on data collected from previous posts. This has been very helpful in planning our strategy. Overall it's an excellent tool and appropriate for just about any business that's looking to improve their social media presence. It's a little pricey ($120 for the most basic package) so it may not be appropriate for extremely small businesses. It's still a lot less expensive than most other social media tools.

Pros

  • It allows multiple social platforms to be used at once. For our university specifically, we have Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram that we use as our main accounts and it allows us to be able to post and custom tailor to each one of these social media platforms.
  • Buffer also has a pretty robust analytics section of the site (paid) that allows users to see details about the posts we have going up and the interactions we are having with them. This allows us to make educated decisions in regard to our social media planning and strategy.
  • With the exception of the paid analytics portion of Buffer, it is honestly cost-effective for us. It offers more for the dollar amount than any other social media scheduling platform that we have used in the past.

  • Dashboard - command center for all your social media accounts in one place. Great info and statistics at a glance.
  • Interaction - Zoho Social allows you to interact with people directly in real time, on any of the connected networks without having to login to that specific social media site. This saves time and allows you to really get into a good flow of interacting on social.
  • Multiple Brands - if you have multiple businesses, different locations, or manage accounts for clients, Zoho Social provides a really great way to monitor, manage, and interact, all from one login, for all of them. Very nice functionality.

  • Analytics-- The analytics on the Pro plan are limited at best. You can simply review your posts from the past 30 days, but you can't access any analysis (or even simple tallying of Likes, Shares, etc.) without upgrading to the Premium or Business plans, which are otherwise more than we need at the moment.
  • Publish+Reply+Analyze-- It's a bit tedious to have these basic social media functions/tools separated out as three distinct products, as well as overkill for a small nonprofit without a dedicated social media team. I imagine each tool is good at its job if you need 'em.
  • Linking to Accounts-- Buffer seems to lose touch with Facebook and LinkedIn somewhat frequently. It's vaguely annoying but very simple to fix, so I just roll with it.

  • The Smart Q sometimes schedules posts too far in advance. I question the accuracy of the Smart Q because it does not seem to differentiate based on social network. Based on their recommendations, for the maximum engagement, I sometimes have to have two posts scheduled to go out at the same time.
  • I am not quite sure about their collaborate tool. I am thinking that it is for teams to discuss and brainstorm social strategies and relationships.
  • I do not find my Twitter posts being updated too often in the recent posts section. When I measure the Zoho Social reports against other vendor reports, some of the data seems to be missing. It is not within the reports themselves, but rather in their quick glance at recent posts. Again, I only found this happening in the Twitter Feed.

Ease of use, affordability, time saved and just love for the app and the team. It's not a miracle tool that will suddenly increase your company's value or leads, you still need to put in quality posts, thoughts and content but when used regularly and with thought, you'll be happy in the long run

I gave buffer a 6 because it really is a great platform, but they still have some areas they can approve. Being able to post to Instagram automatically without having to manually push them through and having analytics that are available with the subscription are two of the biggest reasons that I didn't give buffer at least an 8

Buffer interagates well with extensions, however with most cases of cross connecting software there are little issue sometimes but they are easy fix and you are able to work with them. Buffer UI loads quite quickly and does have ability to swith between two different UI if needed. Buffer original UI nd their new updated UI

There is support available (on different tiers) and they are always immediately responsive. However, sometimes things will have to fail multiple times for multiple days for them to have an answer. While this (I'm sure) is mostly fine, it really impacts our reach as a small business to not be able to use the service.

We were very satisfied with the implementation of Buffer. We had no issues switching from the platform that we were using over to buffer. Our staff did not even miss a beat when it came to posting content. It was an easy transition and I feel that is something that buffer has really done well. They have an "out of the box" usability platform

Buffer lets us schedule on Instagram even if we have to do it manually while Hootsuite would not even connect to our Instagram page. So we can't use Hootsuite for Instagram postings. Buffer fills that hole although each post has to be posted manually from the Instagram app to be published.

Google My Business was not available in any of these, and LinkedIn was not available for all of them at the price level we had budgeted for. Zoho Social had the best dashboard of all. The reporting was better than almost all. The customization of posts was not as good with Zoho, but we found that to be less important than all the other factors. Ultimately the price was great for the value.

  • We had a goal of 1,000 Instagram followers by the end of the calendar year. With the help of Buffer, we were able to meet that goal three months early.
  • Through our social media channels, we hope to engage with our students more and make them aware of events happening within the college, university, and city as a whole. We receive comments from students and even non-students and other groups within the university about how informative our channels have become.
  • With the use of Buffer, we have been able to increase our followers as well as the number of posts we put out per month and how frequently we do.

  • Zoho Social has had a positive impact on our ROI. We use the analytics to guide us in our social media decisions, specifically where and when to spend our social budget.
