Bullhorn

Bullhorn is only appropriate for staffing/recruiting agencies, or internal corporate recruiters. It is made to track jobs, candidates, placements, and is not well suited for any other scenario. Bullhorn integrates with other, more robust software for sales and leads gen, but itself is not a sales or lead gen tool. Bullhorn works best when you integrate with the other services you're already using, like your background screening vendor, phone service, or other analytics tools.

Zoho Recruit

Zoho recruit is designed to assist the work flow for the hiring process, and it does this extremely well. When you want to import a new candidate, it's just a couple of clicks and all the necessary information is imported. If you want to contact and interact with a candidate it is easier to do it through regular email rather than through the system.

Pros

Bullhorn

  • Candidate Management- it is very easy to track and search your candidates. Candidates are the heart of your ATS in staffing and Bullhorn does a great job of making those candidates accessible.
  • Job Order Management-Being able to keep your job orders managed in a way that keeps you closest to money is a one of the best parts of the system. You can filter your lists, schedule your followups and keep on top of the orders that are the most urgent.
  • Configuration- the ability to configure the tool to the look and feel that matches your business.
  • Bullhorn CRM allows Account Managers to do their prospecting without cluttering the Company and Contact List with Company and Contacts that are not buyers or individuals that do not using staffing, not decision makers, etc. Leads allows AM's to pursue those individual within a different entity until they are vetted as buyers. The opportunities allow you to track those longer range opportunities versus storing them in a notebook or on an excel document. They become company IP for down the road.
  • Configuration of the CRM is huge asset. We have changed and configured our workflow several times over the past few years until we have decided on the workflow we want to move forward with. The tool allowed us to make these changes as we saw fit and without the time and cost of having to go through a PS channel.
  • The Lead and Opportunity dashboards help to keep you on track in a visual way so you can see the time cycle of your leads and opportunities.

Zoho Recruit

  • Zoho has all the features expected of a recruitment CRM system. Between my business partner and I we have used a few systems and have found Zoho to be a comparable system for a fraction of the cost.
  • Zoho is easily modified to what you require. Although we are fairly IT capable, we are by no means complete experts, and we managed, within a very reasonable time to create and apply elements which were of use to us.
  • Great cloud based system - sign in from anywhere.
  • Good response from customer service.

Cons

Bullhorn

  • Integration with Bullhorn Marketplace: the solutions offered in Bullhorn's Marketplace are extremely relevant; however the integration and go-live process lacks the support and guidance that we've come to expect through our experience with the core ATS product.
  • New API unveiled with Bullhorn S release offered cross-browser accessibility; however some solid features were left behind and modular layout took a step back which added a few more clicks per page.
  • System up-time: Extremely reliable, but back-end performance and data indexing has, and continues, to be an issue from time to time.

Zoho Recruit

  • As a browser based system, it can get a little confusing with tabs / working with other web pages. That said we have created a link to sit on our desktop which keeps it separate. However, this means you cannot have multiple pages up at the same time i.e. a candidate and a client page.

Bullhorn Applicant Tracking System is user friendly for employees, which is a reason to continue use. I would explore other options due to the technical difficulties experienced.

We have evaluated every other ATS on the market, and do so every 1-2 years just to make sure we aren't missing out on anything better, and found that Zoho offers more functionality than any ATS with a per-recruiter-price under $100. Once it introduces automated job alerts and candidate login functionality there will be no reason for us to look elsewhere.

I did not have to deal directly with Bullhorn support, so I cannot fully answer this. I do know that when we had issues with Bullhorn it took quite some time to have them resolved.

People from the support team are clearly overloaded with work and not properly trained. It's a constant fight for feedback

Alternatives Considered

Bullhorn

Bullhorn is very effective when it comes to easy searching and can be understood with basic training. Salesforce on the other hand was hard to comprehend.

Zoho Recruit

Maybe not quite as good as the big boys in the market, but at a fraction of the cost certainly worth the consideration.
