Commvault works well in a large environments with a variety of client types and data classes. With its policy-based configurations, it makes administration of large environments easier when configuring storage and retention, copies, schedules, client configs, etc. Commvault also backs up just about everything you can think of, and works with almost all storage and compute platforms, so there are rarely any cases where Commvault cannot accommodate.

It's definitely best for customers. If your main collaboration tools are hosted on Microsoft 365, and your company uses M365, this is a no-brainer. So this integrates pretty nicely with all Microsoft applications. So it becomes a no-brainer to go with this. Less appropriate would be like if you already are using another solution to do classification, I would still stick to Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention being that classification, but if you want to use it in the scenarios where you already have a tool and you're classifying documents, data, using that tool and you want Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention just to label and apply protection documents that is also supported, but the comprehensiveness, the end-to-end story would still be missing if you're investigating an incident.

Analyzing campaign performance is a great area where the Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 is well-suited, and it’s working well. In the past, when we analyzed campaign performance, we had to use outside vendors, which was a time-consuming, laborious, and costly process.

• The ability to create groups of people that would access a certain label, having been able to organize the data access to the document access, and protecting repositories with the same level of criticality, regardless of where they're located in the company. That's quite good because we had a lot of document distribution, and it helped provide the same layer of protection regardless of where they're stored.
• The other good thing is that it provided traceability of what was going on with the label. So I could understand how many people were trying to access a document that weren't meant to. So it gave me an idea of how well protection was working, not only because people who did have access accessed it, but also I could trace that people who didn't have access couldn't do it.

• I'd say over the last couple of years, there have been some great advancements in Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention, so I really do like that. I think some of the challenges I see with Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention today are in the first-party world; it does provide some real-time capabilities, but the alerting on DLP has a big lag. And some of our customers, actually, one of my customers in particular, whom I advise heavily, ran into a situation where they were getting hours of delays when they were getting critical, sensitive alerts. So being able to provide that in a more real-time way for both internal use within Microsoft and for third-party products, I think, would be significantly impactful. E-share, as a platform, also uses DLP in order to automate our policy, as I mentioned before. And some of that is a challenge because some of the capabilities we do need real-time information for aren't exposed to us based on the current capabilities that Firmy provides.

• I would like the option to remove users from the backup and set them to an alternate storage location/ archive location. Currently, my backups are at 7 TB, and I would like to segment out data with lower data retention requirements.

It is serving it's purpose and for companies that have a smaller IT staff, it is not time consuming to manage. Support for the product when needed has been very good and they are responsive when tickets are opened for support. The product is scalable so as we grow we can easily increase the resources as needed on the backend.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 just works so well and is so easy to use. I researched multiple options for Office 365 backup and none seemed to be as easy to setup and use as Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 and the pricing was very comfortable to us. I can't imagine any reason why we would change away from Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.

Have a interface very user friendly. You do not need a lot of training, or any formal training really, to get up and going and use nearly all of the functionality of the product. This facilitates the post-implementation company as it reduces costs with backup specialists and any trained analyst can take care of its infrastructure. One negative point is not all the options and features are in the HTML view.

Just because it's so easy to navigate and, for the most part, even areas that I don't know about, the support channels are very clear and concise, and they respond very quickly to whatever I need. They'll guide me through whatever I don't understand, and sometimes there are a lot of things added in there.

We have a lot of data, and pulling backups out of the store sometimes takes a bit of time - but this is within acceptable tolerances. I don't expect restores to be instantaneous, and I can't quantify if the speed is software or data repository.

I would rate Commvault's support as an 'average' support. Now that we have a very experienced guy working with Commvault, most of the time we can fix or do anything by ourselves. We had some issues with their support taking a really long time to respond and fix some issues in the past. In most cases we ended up appealing to the community, other peers, or Commvault's SE team.

The setup support we received was extremely helpful. They allowed us to learn as they created the policies and managed the handoff between setup and guided setup very well. This resulted in active, usable policies and us having the knowledge to adapt these as our needs change in the future.

Symantec or now? Brocom. Forcepoint, GPV. I'm trying to think of, there's a couple more. I can't think of the top of my head. I would say closer to the bottom then rather than the top. So because of the fact that yes, it integrates well. But in terms of the actual functionality of DLP, there are other requirements that they just don't have the features for yet.

First and foremost, Veeam's reputation stood out. They have been a leader in the backup vendors for a few years. That reputation along with recommendations from colleagues sold us on Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365. The other vendors that we did demo's with were lacluster in setup and performance. Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 immediately won us over.

• I am not privy to ROI, but just having confidence and trust that Commvault will back up whatever needs backing up, and that we will always be able to restore it quickly, allows our technical people to concentrate on the problem at hand, knowing that we do not have to worry about the safety of the data. This saves time for some very expensive human resources and shortens schedules by eliminating a whole class of data safety and disaster recovery issues.

• The only real impact is from a compliance standpoint. Our company is expected at a regulatory level to be protecting our data and even though the tenant has little traffic there could still be some regulated data in there. We have to be able to tell an auditor that it's being backed up by an enterprise grade solution, and that's what VDC was intended for.
