Docebo
Docebo fits both internal and external learning management. It is able to mold itself based on varied use cases. Whether you're HR focused on centralizing all training or marketing focused on reseller/business partner training, the system is able to handle that type of workload. However, as flexible as the system is, there are parts of it that require workarounds (such as its internal reporting system). The data, in itself, is clean, however, the pre-built dashboards are not as good as Power BI or Tableau

We use Mindflash for a lot of our internal training needs, and it is very versatile to accomplish your needs in training employees in a variety of different areas. I've never tried to use it for external needs, but I feel like the software at the advanced level wouldn't suit that need very well at all. At the Pro level, you get a lot more flexibility, but the cost is prohibitive for the size of our company.

I have actually recommended it to another teacher in a different district for her autism program since she could level and pace it easily and also easily collect IEP data without stressing out her students with extra work. Unique Learning System is also a good program for our autism program because it is consistent with all core subjects, making is very routine based.

Pros
Docebo
  • PPT import feature is my favorite. It will let you use your existing materials without a hiccup
  • The UI is clean and intuitive. My audience was able to use most of the features with ease
  • All learning analytics are easy to use and analyze offline easily
  • Using the Linkedin Learning inside the platform gave us some time to come up with our own content, as we weren't sitting duck on an empty LMS

  • Data tracking and progress reports - Unique Learning System's Polaris feature is a user-friendly, simple way to track and monitor progress towards learners IEP goals. When creating a roadmap that follows a learner's IEP, you input data such as learning profiles and benchmark assessments and rubrics that then produce goal suggestions. You can craft your own goal, use a suggested goal, or choose a goal from the goal library. It gives you a great idea of what goals to target based on learner needs and progress. Entering data is super easy, just a date and a data point, and a graph generates for you. From there, it will show the data trend and flag it for you when it's at risk. It is also easy to add an intervention. Quarterly, I use the progress report feature to generate a report that provides me with the graphs that I use to put into IEP writer.
  • Curriculum pacing - My school utilizes Unique Learning System for our daily instruction. Unique Learning System provides pacing guides with what to teach and when. Everything is standards aligned and all of the lesson plans have ways that you can differentiate already built into the plans as well as an easy to use, structured/routine based set up that makes daily lessons predictable for learners to increase engagement.
  • N2Y - My learners love News To You! This provides children with access to informational text. We use it as a "fun Friday" read every week. We read the article in class, watch videos, answer questions, and typically do an activity to go along with it. The kids look forward to it every week, and also enjoy the Joey's Locker games that go along with the articles. They have a new feature to be able to assign activities that go along with the article which is really nice because I assign them as supplemental activities to go along with what we are learning about in class!

Cons
Docebo
  • Issues with latency. Once training is complete, it takes a while for it to show up in personal records. This can lead to frustration sometimes when one training is a prerequisite for another.
  • LMS admin cannot proxy into another user's account.
  • Training videos have a size limit.

  • Integration with Salesforce using professional level software. Mindflash's limited integration to only work with the higher level of Salesforce product.
  • More brand customization for multiple product line trainings.
  • Communication of trainers using Mindflash and sales team. We have multiple trainers sending invitations for training with no way for them to communicate with our sales team when a person has completed training.

  • Unique Learning System's materials in the science and social studies areas aren't "fluffy" as other areas, but they are continuously adding materials
  • The layout of the website isn't the most user friendly, but most teachers are able to navigate easily after an initial training
  • The administrator side of things isn't super straightforward, reports can be confusing to find/run, but the one on one meetings always provide clarity.

The number of people using Mindflash is only going to rise and we need a system that remains easy to use for everyone involved. [update] This is especially vital now that we've lost head count in critical departments. Getting all of our training and Safety objectives met would be impossible without Mindflash.

I appreciate all the various resources that Unique Learning System has to offer. However, due to my limited interaction with other resources similar to Unique Learning System I do not know enough to compare it against other programs. I also am not a person in charge of renewing Unique Learning System for my organization.

Usability
Docebo
It was somewhat easy to navigate, I still think that the UX could be better designed. I just thought that it was also hard to find course using the search feature. I still think its one of the better LMS I have seen, but I prefer Litmos over Docebo LMS

The interface is just so simple to understand. It's clean and efficient. We showed Mindflash off to the Safety group, who are not computer gurus and they were beyong excited to use it.

There is a lot of content in Unique Learning System. It can sometimes be time consuming to navigate through everything. I appreciate the depth and breadth of the resources, but it can also be tough to use when I need a worksheet or packet for my students. The use of Unique Learning System on the computer is great, but my students seem to learn best when they have a pen and paper in front of them.

The service is very slow often taking months to resolve issues. The CSM program is poor, with ill knowledgeable people not well trained in customer management with a lack of good follow through. This has been independently observed by several of our Super Admins as well as customers at their annual meeting. They say it has to do with growth, but this has been the case for years.

Any problems or questions we have had with Mindflash have been handled promptly and effectively. I normally use the online chat option but have had to correspond with them through email and phone as well. We have never had an issue languish for weeks or months with Mindflash. They either fix the problem or let you know that the software isn't capable to handle the need at that point.

If you're going to develop a short course to demo the product internally, don't bother avoiding your own topics. Mindflash rolls whatever content you create during the trial into your production environment when you decide to buy. The time taken to go from not having a system to being live with Mindflash is virtually instant. What you'll be wanting for is time to develop content and people to test it out.

Alternatives Considered
Docebo
We replaced cornerstone with Docebo [Learning Suite] mainly due to the user experience and the navigational friendliness it offered to our employees. We used to struggle to explain to employees how to find their transcript and where assigned learnings were located and now in Docebo, this is a very simple process. If your organization takes advantage of single sign on, you can use an embedded deep link to make it even simpler.

This is an alternate software that we have looked into, right now we don't have the need for the increased flexibility that Lesson.ly provides with learning from your mobile or tablet. We haven't seen a lot of those things as particularly useful for our current training methods, but we see the quality to be similar.

We viewed Encore by TeachTown. The product seemed to be a notch above Unique Learning System and included workbooks and other books but was very expensive. The downfalls of Encore was that it did not include the Profile Assessments like Unique Learning System and also the monthly checkpoints which are very valuable.

Docebo
  • Our candidates were 30 percent more likely to get hired
  • Our candidates can cover almost 100% percent more content as they can learn on demand. My candidates are switcher rather fresher. Scheduling live learning sessions during office time was inconvenient for them
  • Our clients were angry why were we hiding these new candidates for so long🤣

  • Mindflash has had a positive impact on our business because it allows us to train more new users with less effort, and ensure that trainees have access to the course materials for a period of time after they have started using our software to do their daily jobs. Review of the course materials allows them to get answers to common questions without having to submit requests to our support team, thereby reducing the administrative burden on our resources.

  • Ease of planning is #1. I am able to plan an entire lesson or a week's worth of lessons during my 30-minute planning time.
  • Data that is collected for IEPs is so valuable and reports are parent-friendly.
  • Students are able to work on the alternative path toward a diploma because this curriculm is covering all of the standards they need to see in order to earn their diploma.
