IBM Security MaaS360
Chose IBM Security MaaS360
There is no contest for customization or admin interface between Jamf Pro and MaaS360; Jamf is the clear winner. After experiencing MaaS360 then moving our company to Jamf Pro, the list of manual tasks has dwindled. This not only left more time for my IT staff to better work …
Chose IBM Security MaaS360
It places a strong emphasis on security, with features like threat detection and remediation, encryption, and policy enforcement.
Chose IBM Security MaaS360
Ease of use and management of mobile devices are easier and has protection against the Cyber threats. The security controls implementation on our devices are perfect and in one place. I love the responsiveness and prosctivenes of the support. Seamless integration with all …
Chose IBM Security MaaS360
This tool from IBM is one of the best security tools for all our devices. It's pretty easy to use and manage all our devices in one tool, adding up security also we are able to keep our organization's information secure even when a device is lost we are able to lock it.
Chose IBM Security MaaS360
It provides Administrator capabilities for granting access to corporate applications or data on Mobile devices and securely monitoring and managing mobile devices that have sensitive business data. It stores essential information about mobile device so admin can decide which …
Jamf Pro
Chose Jamf Pro
I looked at MaaS360 as well, which was less full featured and also IBM makes it but they use Jamf, so that makes you wonder why they don't use their own product.
Chose Jamf Pro
Jamf has the most features of all the Macintosh management solutions. It is easy to use and the customer support team at Jamf is awesome. I especially like the use of extension attributes to extend the platform to some very 'company-specific' data collection.
Chose Jamf Pro
In comparison to IBM Jamf is a clear-cut winner. Jamf tends to react faster to pushes and overall user support is far superior to that of IBM. Using MaaS360 for a period of 2 years had made the life of a Mac admin significantly more stressful than it needed to be. Jamf has made …
Chose Jamf Pro
Jamf Pro is the best one-stop show for Apple devices. Other companies or solutions can do some of the things but do not offer all end to end solutions that Jamf Pro can.
Chose Jamf Pro
Jamf Pro just does more and it does it better.

The issue that I have found with many other mobile device management systems is that they try to do too much. Most other MDMs allow for management of Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and maybe more; the issue is that they …

IBM
This product has helped me find lost mobile devices and has helped protect our corporate intellectual property as well as making it easier to support our 700 users in our Canada manufacturing facilities. We are better able to manage our fleet of devices and manage the apps that are being used on these devices as well as which apps are being used. We can easily wipe out a device if someone resigns and to better protect information. It makes it easier to deploy a completely configured mobile device to remote users and supports Apple, Android or BYOD. Once configured correctly this product integrates seamlessly with Apple to better manage off the shelf apps or custom applications. This product has made my life working with managing two different corporate entities and their divisions all across Canada with relative ease and leaves me more time to work on other issues. And reports are simple and customizable making it simple to see and understand and utilize the information to make better informed decisions.

Well suited for any organization that wants to manage apple products. It's extremely easy to integrate and has many connectors for existing enterprise infrastructure applications. Certificate management is a breeze. Not so suited for smaller businesses that only have 10-20 devices. Jamf has another product called JAMF Now that would suffice for those areas.

  • Jamf Pro's Self Service is a great mechanism for making software available to end uses as they need it.
  • Jamf Pro is also great for creating plans called PreStage Enrollments that allow for computers to skip many of the setup screens, as well as automating account creation.
  • Jamf Pro in combination with Apple Automated Device Enrollment (formerly DEP) allows for devices to supervised and managed, this combination allows for locking, remote wipe of devices, and finding locations of devices when put into lost mode.

Cons
IBM
  • MaaS360 with Watson has a lot of features and capabilities, which can sometimes make it difficult for us to navigate. Improving the user interface and making it friendly could help make the platform easier to use.
  • Expanding integrations with other systems to provide better support for a wider range of systems and platforms.

  • Training options are terrific, but costly.
  • Finding what you need in Jamf Pro can be tough at times. The interface is not what I would call friendly.
  • You'll need static credentials for Jamf Pro. They don't integrate with the Jamf Account, and it doesn't offer 2FA. SSO is an option, but it's not simple to set up.

Rock solid solution with highly accessible support when needed. We do not want to interact with MaaS360 on a daily basis but when an issue occurs we are always able to find resolution due to the various support resources we have access to

We stepped away and are looking at different products that integrate with our entire fleet MDM solution rather than focusing specifically on Apple products. An all in one solution fits our needs better and is more cost-effective in the long run. Jamf Pro needs to improve some features and support but overall its a good product.

Usability
IBM
Having years of experience with MDM and experiencing the evolution of the granularity of the functionality MDM's have had to evolve, no MDM is ever "easy" to use. MaaS360 rises to the top however, because zero day changes are always ahead of the competition. A huge benefit with MaaS360 and IBM's approach to supporting these changes is that they seldom change configuration work flows. Competing Vendors always arbitrarily change workflows which requires a significnat ongoing learning curve in order to maintain technical competence

Jamf Pro has done pretty much anything we've needed with little setup headache. If we hit a wall, the Jamf user community and tech support departments both are more than willing to help solve problems. Tech support is excellent, but the surprising thing is the user base is by far the biggest resource. Jamf users love to help each other, by directly chatting about issues, posting best practices, or just posting info on the forums.

Support Rating
IBM
MaaS360's phone support has been decent the few times I have used it. In addition the person who on-boarded us has been available for additional questions after the process was over. However IBM could do a much better job in creating a user-friendly search engine and white-paper database to help people find topics. Right now finding info is more based on searching through white papers themselves.

Jamf Support is very responsive and usually assists in any challenge we are tackling. They are also very transparent when they are allowed to be. I personally love our Jamf Pro support rep and don't fear messaging their support team.

The training session was beneficial because it expanded my knowledge about Jamf products and really learn what I am capable of doing with Jamf Pro in terms of managing Apple computers and devices. Immediately after the training course, I was able to implement what I learn to our cloud instance.

To implement IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson, follow these steps: Set up the platform, enroll devices, configure policies and settings, monitor and manage devices. Implementing it can help organizations to securely manage and monitor the use of mobile devices and related resources in their networks, improving security and productivity for their users.

Migration from an existing MDM requires device wipe and reenroll for full supervision of the device. It's somewhat painful. User enrollment makes things easier, but you miss out on full management.

Even thought we are using this solutions for different purposes (macOS device management VS mobile device management), I think at the end Jamf Pro is more focused or aimed for macOS management, and mobile device management is just a good addition to that. Same I can tell about Ivanty, is more about iOS/Android management rather than macOS

IBM
  • We were able to reduce our monthly bill for iPad data usage by well over 60%. Simply by limiting the applications available to what was absolutely necessary to do their jobs.
  • We have never had an iPad lost that couldn’t be recovered.
  • We were able to reassign iPads when we discovered techs were not using them. Some techs preferred to use their company phones.

  • Jamf Pro has allowed us to minimize the time it takes to deploy devices. We can use zero-touch deployment methodologies which allow devices to go directly to end users and allow end users to get up and running without needing IT's help.
  • We have implemented both a third-party & macOS patching service, which allows us to ensure all apps and versions of macOS are updated and secure.
