LogMeIn is well suited when it's required to remote into two or more devices at the same time. Its effectiveness is amazing for that type of multitasking as long as I have sufficient bandwidth. And I don't personally consider any type of scenario not or less appropriate for using it. Its benefits are very good.

I have used a number of remote access systems over my IT/MSP career, and Take Control stands out as the best I have ever used. If you are using the N-Able RMM I highly recommend, Take Control over the other options that can be integrated into the platform

Pros
GoTo (formerly LogMeIn)
  • LogMeIn Rescue does a great job of allowing access to our clients computer screens.
  • LogMeIn Rescue does a great job of allowing me as an admin to monitor my technicians.
  • LogMeIn Rescue does a great job of allowing me as an admin to pull daily, weekly and monthly stat reports.
  • LogMeIn Rescue does a great job of allowing me as an admin to view my technician's chat logs.

  • Take Control is really good at accessing a device with no end-user involvement. The user doesn't have to click on permissions or visit a particular site. We simply can take control of their device from the RMM dashboard.
  • If Microsoft issues a patch/update, I can schedule a release of a mass install to all client sites at the click of a mouse from within my office.

Cons

  • one of the prompt in windows users is not vissible, somethimes users missed it and you must start from scratch
  • more documentation for apple users

  • Performance on low-end machines.
  • Verbosity when changing stream quality.
  • File manager needs improving, dragging files causes graphical issues.
  • Connection time needs to be reduced.
  • Ability to adjust re-connection time.
  • Integration with more password-storage applications.
  • Screen blanking is buggy in some instances and makes the session unusable.

We may continue using Logmein as it is the best remote support application in terms of connection latency and control. However, since several of our client sites have stricter security policies they block this application and we have to switch to other ways which is inconvenient

Usability

For user i think it needs improvement as every remote session I need to download the app, find it, open it, and allow access. For Agent it is well suited to provide support and preform any task required on the user workstation

Support Rating
GoTo (formerly LogMeIn)
I'd say support for LogMeIn is ideal because I haven't ever been in a situation where additional support was necessary. The program runs so efficiently and simply that nothing was needed beyond initial training that was provided by my company. I am saying this as a user that strictly uses the technician console

Alternatives Considered
GoTo (formerly LogMeIn)
LogMeIn Rescue by GoTo is by far superior feature wise when it comes to other solutions we've trialed. The cost of rescue is the only part that makes you have to stop and think before procurement, we had to significantly justify our reasons for this product over some of the others due to the higher license cost. But worth every moment and penny.

We were primarily a team-viewer customer before this point but the continued increases on cost, feature issues as well as core functionality and load issues we were beginning to see on the host machines we started looking for other options. As we were already a solar-winds customer utilizing the SAAS and Take Control for our Managed customers it was a no-brainer to look into Take Control. After a short review and the fact that we are already very familiar with the system via our management dashboard, it was an easy yes

  • It helps us to increase our remote resolution from offshore personnel, so you can redeploy the activity of a local resource at your facility to specifically address more of the hardware or physical IT problems.
  • Increase FCR "First Call Resolution" if you have this within your SLA
  • Improve end user experience, Non IT personnel doesn't have to struggle explaining an issue, it makes it very easy once you get on the affected user computer.

  • We we're able to bundle Take Control into our RMM pricing removing the need to pay for a separate system and maintain its intergration
  • Remote access is only a click away saving our techs time
  • Reliable connection mean issues are resolved without having to 'fix' the remote access first
