Jedox has been successfully implemented across various departments such as finance, sales, and project management, making it a versatile tool for planning purposes and operational reporting. Users have found Jedox particularly beneficial in industries like automotive manufacturing, retail, FMCG, healthcare, and the public sector. It has proven invaluable for performance management, promotions management, service line reporting, patient level costing, and business intelligence reporting. The software's ability to simplify monthly management reporting and budgeting cycles has greatly aided finance teams, allowing for both ad-hoc analysis and structured data updates. Notably, Jedox has been chosen as a replacement for previous GL reporting tools and highly valued since its implementation. Customers have praised its accessibility in terms of price, implementation speed, and maintenance ease while still delivering high-quality and rich functionality. Several consulting firms specializing in financial analytic solutions have also utilized Jedox effectively for their clients' integrated planning, management dashboards, and real-time write back capabilities. Overall, the user experiences highlight the wide range of use cases for Jedox in helping businesses streamline their planning processes and drive informed decision-making.

Seamless Integration with Excel: Multiple users have praised Jedox for its seamless integration with Excel, allowing for easy import/export and use of Excel add-ins. This feature has been consistently mentioned by reviewers, highlighting the convenience and familiarity it brings to their workflow.

Rapid Time-to-Market Development Environment: Reviewers have expressed their satisfaction with Jedox's rapid time-to-market development environment, emphasizing that a fully functioning application can be developed in a matter of weeks if a good concept is ready. The flexibility and effectiveness of this excel-like development environment have been commended by multiple users.

Quick Installation and Setup Process: Several users have highlighted the quick installation and setup process of Jedox, stating that it can be installed and run on a server in less than an hour. This speedy implementation process sets Jedox apart from its competitors in terms of speed, providing a hassle-free experience for customers.

CCU Ratio Licensing Discontinued: Some users have expressed disappointment that Jedox no longer offers CCU ratio licensing, which was a preferred licensing model for some.

Lack of Integrated Debugging Capabilities: Reviewers have mentioned that Jedox lacks integrated debugging capabilities, particularly when developing specific functions with PHP macros. This can make troubleshooting and application development more challenging for users.

Complex Setup with Two-Tier Architecture: According to multiple reviewers, the setup process in Jedox can be complex and not straightforward when working with a two-tier architecture. The use of separate backend and frontend servers adds complexity, and users have suggested that this setup should be standardized and made more straightforward in the software.

Users recommend utilizing the free trial version and implementing Jedox well to optimize its value. They suggest having an expert on your databases and partnering with Jedox for quality and support. The importance of user-friendliness is emphasized, and comparing Jedox's possibilities with your own requirements is recommended. Users also advise planning thoroughly in advance and proceeding with implementation in phases. They suggest assessing requirements and getting an impartial assessment from a Jedox partner. Additionally, users highlight the speed of implementation and ease of use as great features of the tool. They recommend doing a trial installation to evaluate if Jedox fits your needs.

Implementing BI and EPM applications based on Jedox for other clients.
  • Integration with Excel (Import from Excel, Export to Excel, Excel Add-in etc.)
  • Rapid Time-To-Market because of flexible and effective excel-like development environment (surpassing other vendors by far) -> one can develop a fully functioning application in weeks if a good concept is ready.
  • You can install and run Jedox on your server in literally less than 1 hour (hands down, no competition!)
  • Powerful ETL (extract, transform, load data) incl. UI for developer
  • Auditing out-of-the-box (see who changed what & when)
  • Supervision Server (create own custom silent processes behind the scenes)
  • Use PHP to develop own custom functions, if required (comparable to VBA in excel)
  • Embed any custom HTML & javascript widgets
  • Write your own custom ETL routines with groovy or javascript
  • Automated routines (e.g. "Backup database daily" or "Send a PDF of this report to a group of persons" etc.)
Best suited for financial consolidation and / or as a highly customized and compact EPM / BI solution (up to 100 CCU) with individual workflows, planning and reporting functionalities, with moderate number of users (no restrictions for any industry, all industries are covered well). It also has advanced reporting & data analysis requirements and provides an integration and reporting layer of imported data from different external systems (via ETL). It can help with migrating your legacy Excel-based business models to the Web.

It is not well suited for Enterprise BI applications with expecting >500 CCU (users at the same time working with the system) - this may cause serious performance issues, as all data is kept in RAM. Jedox is also less suited for applications with heavy document management requirements (document management is not an out of the box functionality in Jedox and rather requires custom development through custom widgets etc.).

That was easy! Jedox tranforms our reporting experience.

Currenty we use Jedox within our finance team to simplify the effort of monthly management reporting and our budgeting cycle. Jedox as a tool has given us the flexibility to update and quickly analyse at a high level our general ledger data on an ad-hoc basis as well as in more structured ways. Jedox was selected when our previous GL reporting tool went end of life. We haven't looked back since.
  • Using the Excel add-in means that our team was almost instantly productive, being able to use a familiar interface to present and manipulate data.
  • Allows us to quickly do analysis and comparison of current and historic data.
  • Really good to produce meaningful management reporting that can be adapted responsively to business requirements.
  • Implementing Jedox in our budget cycle dramatically reduced the time and complexity of the process, while making it more transparent.
We've found Jedox's strength for us has been in our general ledger reporting and budgeting. We are starting to explore more areas where we can leverage the power of Jedox. Without a dedicated development team inhouse we have struggled to set up new reporting cubes, where some competing products are easier to do this with. Jedox is great for data that isn't needing to be "real time" in our experience. We haven't yet leveraged the prospective capabilities of Jedox. Most importantly maximising the use of the models that we have has been the standout as we haven't had to materially upskill the team to leverage the reporting capabilities of Jedox given the familiar spreadsheet interface.

My company is a provider of tailored business intelligence solutions. We work with a number of BI technologies based on the specific requirements of our clients. We specialize in services around Power BI and the www.acterys.com solution. Particularly around integrated planning/budgeting, management dashboards and specialized solutions that require real time write back, concept driven modelling (i.e. business end users without IT skills can simulate changes of model structures e.g. dimensions hierarchies) and more complex calculations models.
  • integration into Excel
  • Strong Security down to cell level
  • Mobile device support
Jedox is particularly suited for small scale applications where users want to do write back, modelling and simulation in Excel

Jedox Planning BI Suite - a powerful spreadsheet style solution that's as easy as 1-2-3

Rating: 9 out of 10

Within our own organisation, we use Jedox across the board for all planning purposes and operational reporting. This includes financial, sales and project management. We predominantly use Jedox with our clients across a large proposition of our client portfolio, ranging from performance management in the automotive manufacturer sector; through promotions management in the retail and FMCG sector, through service line reporting and patient level costing in the health sector to business intelligence reporting on an international scale in the public sector.
  • Self Service BI. With its familiar front end - both the Excel add-in and its web based spreadsheet portal - it is easy for new users to be up and running very quickly, writing reports and answering questions of their data.
  • Budgeting and Planning. At the core to Jedox is its In-Memory OLAP database that can be written to. The Excel like front end is then able to write back to this central database to take advantage of the ease of use of a spreadsheet system, but combine the power of a central database application.
  • Modelling. Jedox has very powerful but easy to use tools to model any business requirement, from simple KPI calculations, through inter- and intra- business unit cost allocations to complex Activity Based Costing and Budgeting.
  • Data Integration. Jedox has a a powerful and easy to use ETL for both reading from and writing to databases, ERP's, Salesforce and Qlikview applications, for example.
Jedox is really good when being applied to a specific use case or scenario (such as a budget or planning process). Once embedded, users then start to really understand how it can be used in other, less well defined, areas of their business.

It is therefore not as easy to apply it on an enterprise-wide deployment from a "Big Bang" perspective. But very few tools / projects ever meet this goal.

Be happy, use Jedox for BI & performance management

Celcus is a specialized consultancy company that helps companies and non-profit organizations meet their information challenges in 2 ways: we help to design, build and maintain applications to meet the needs for intelligence and steering within an organization and; we secure self-proficiency in the business by leveraging in-house capabilities in the area of business intelligence and performance management. We have used Jedox technology as a BI/EPM platform for over 20 customers: large multi-nationals, medium sized businesses, family firms, municipalities, universities and so forth. Most projects start with a focus on creating financial insight and steering. Often it is rolled out throughout the organization to meet all BI and EPM requirements like human resources, sales, procurement and risk. All our Jedox implementations are still being used; have led to 100% satisfaction, more users and more applications to address various common and specific business needs. In general, Jedox is accessible in terms of price, speed of implementation and ease of maintenance. It offers high quality and rich functionality for a reasonable price.
  • By now everybody has business intelligence, a logical starting point. However, traditional BI tools do not allow for write back functionality. Sharing expectations among each other in terms of budgets, forecasts, planning and associated comments including workflow and audit trail is not facilitated in BI tools. Jedox offers both BI functionality and such performance management functionality in one integrated platform.
  • It is easy. For many reasons. At the end of the day the proof of the pudding is in the eating. After an initial implementation and some training many of our Jedox customers have started to build their own BI and EPM applications. Be it reporting, dashboards or more complicated applications like cost allocations. Of course one has to keep in mind that this is all relative. Some solutions require a very high technical and business know-how & experience but compared to other tools Jedox is definitely easy.
  • It is fast. To implement but also in terms of (query) performance.
  • Quality/ price ratio is excellent.
As with any selection process I would advise to talk to references and perform a proof of concept.

We are a consulting firm that implements financial analytic solutions built with Jedox. Solutions include planning and budgeting, and cost management.
  • Write-back to the data repository
  • BI combined with CPM functionalities
  • License Pricing
Jedox's planning functionalities are extremely powerful compared to leaders like Cognos TM1, Hyperion and SAP BPC. We are now entering the predictive analytics and will see its level of response when big data come into the game.

Used by all business units
  • Easy to deploy through web interface
  • Highly integrated in Excel, very familiar platform for end users
  • very short implementation at reasonable cost
It is very well suited for planning applications. It is less appropriate for a large data warehouse with millions of elements in a dimension: millions of products and customers and transactions.
