We use Network Solutions to host our domains. This covers a few domains, security, safety, whosit and various domain related services. We use it daily. Network Solutions is easy to use and comparatively cost effective. The website is easy to use and cloud based.
  • website based
  • easy set-up
  • easy to reach customer service
  • website does not work well with certain browsers (Safari, Firefox)
  • sometimes pushy upgrade and additional services emails
  • auto billing cycle alignments (had to call to get figured out)
Network Solutions is useful for building a website. Protecting your domain. Do it yourself management and set up. This would not be useful if you are using Squarespace or a similar product the costs do not line up.
  • easy to navigate
  • affordable
  • users can visit our website
  • never had issues
  • domain works correctly with other services (google)
Network Solutions was the easiest to use and (at the time) the lowest cost option.

We have used Network Solutions to register and manage domains for our client websites. As applicable, we manage client zone files for DNS for the domains there to keep their various services running as well as provide security for email and any other services they use. We have also taken on some legacy client sites hosted with Network Solutions.
  • Editing zone files can be easier than some DNS services.
  • Transfers perform consistently.
  • Uptime is good.
  • Advertisements for more services throughout the use of their dashboard.
  • Transfers have unnecessary extra delays built in.
  • Security options are generally poor for a domain registrar.
  • More expensive than most competition.
  • Core transfer functions (e.g. unlocking) sometimes don't work.
  • Support is very poor for an industry with generally poor support.
My experience with using Network Solutions hasn't been great. At best, it has almost feature parity with its competitors at a higher price. But when you tack on all the minor annoyances of being given interstitial ads for their other products or discount offers when logging in or performing a transfer, the all too common bugs where a feature doesn't work, and in my experience support takes at least a half-hour to understand your problem before even attempting to fail at a resolution. It just isn't worth it in my opinion. Go with a service with better support, features, security, and lower price.
  • Domain registration
  • DNS hosting
  • Domain transfers
  • Huge time sink for routine activities.
  • Higher direct costs than competitors with similar or better features.
  • Poor service leading to even more expense of time on the user's side.
Network Solutions is on the higher side if not the top of normal domain registration costs while being at or near the bottom in terms of features and general experience using their management console. If you want to pay more and be spammed with ads every time you log in, be my guest, but there are plenty of better options. There are tons of registrars out there, but this is one of the many that I would not consider using again. Unfortunately, we often still have to deal with them when a client has an existing domain registered through Network Solutions, so we still often have to suffer through their consistently awful transfer process.

We use Network Solutions for Domain Name Registration, Email, DNS management and web hosting.

When working for other companies, we often recommend Network Solution for similar services.

Network Solutions services give us a one stop shop to manage the domains we purchase whether we are just using Web Forwarding to point the domain to something like an Etsy shop with an email address that reflects the domain name to increase brand awareness over generic email addresses like Gmail etc.

On the e-commerce side, we use Advanced DNS records to point the Domain we have registered with Network Solutions to servers with BigCommerce. This service is included with the domain registration which isn't the cheapest available out there, but we feel the customer support and use of the Network Solution website makes it easier to manage than some other registrars we've used that are cheaper.
  • Email
  • DNS Management
  • Free Open Source web solutions
  • Web Hosting
  • Web Forwarding
  • Support for Free Open Source 3rd party products you have to pay for the help
  • Calling Network Solutions during busy periods can lead to an overflow center which isn't as helpful as the domestic support centers
  • Pricing could be more competitive on domain name registration
  • Email boxes could have a larger capacity without having to pay for more space
If you know what you are doing with free open source website building applications and need no help, Network Solutions is a good place to look. If you have an Etsy shop or SmugMug account and you want to have a domain name that points to those locations, Network Solutions Web Forwarding is a cost effective easy solution. If you need email for your domain name that is reliable, Network Solutions has a solid product.
  • Using Network Solutions has had a positive impact on ROI
  • Depending on the domain, it can cost as little as $70 for email, web forwarding and domain registration for a year, less if you don't need the forwarding.
The backend for managing your domain is very easy to work thru once you learn where everything is and what it is for if you want to do it yourself. The company has toll free phone support 24/7 that can also make changes for you if you are away from your desktop or have an emergency situation where you can't make the change yourself. This is peace of mind knowing that there is help out there should you need it. You don't have to learn the backend if you want to have the Network Solutions customer support team help you. They are secure and won't make changes for anyone who calls, they authenticate you for your protection every time.
For the most part I've had excellent interactions with the customer support team I've dealt with at Network Solutions. When I've needed help with something like Wordpress, it hasn't always worked out so well but you can pay their techs for 1 on 1 help with these offerings, you just won't have the support for free. I've often been talked to on upsells for services that I particularly didn't need and found the offers to be annoying when the agents kept pushing me on an upsell instead of addressing my issue. It's hit or miss on that, perhaps it depends on the department you speak with.
Bluehost had some good web hosting packages depending on what you need it for. They use some newer builds for Open Source web options that Network Solutions didn't support at the time.
GoDaddy has cheap domain name registration but the Customer Support isn't as good as it is with Network Solutions.

Network Solutions is utilized to host DNS and provide a wildcard SSL certificate for one of our domains and hosts the main web page and DNS for another of our domains.
  • Network solutions supports TXT, MX, and CNAME records.
  • DNS changes propagate fairly quickly.
  • Network Solutions has a web management portal for maintenance of your account.
  • The webpage for managing our DNS, SSL, and hosted webpage is cumbersome to navigate and difficult to make changes.
  • Configuring DKIM records with O365 was a hassle and I had to do a lot of digging to figure out how to get it done with Network Solutions.
  • Network solutions does not support DNSSEC.
  • When I renewed my SSL certificate, my CSR was rejected multiple times with little to no explanation fro Network Solution.
  • When I call into support for anything I am constantly transferred between teams and told, "I'm sorry, we don't handle that on this team."
I have yet to find a situation where Network Solutions would be the best solution. Their customer support is severely lacking, their prices do not appear to be as low as other more known DNS registrars, their webpage to manage your account needs a complete overhaul, and documentation on their website (for configuration explanations) is sparse.
  • Renewing an SSL certificate should have been a simple process after I submitted the CSR, but Network solutions wasted multiple weeks of my time to complete this.
  • We currently have an issue with our hosted webpage, we cannot get the page to support multiple aliases utilizing Network Solutions.
  • Any A, MX, TXT, or CNAME record updates do tend to propagate fast than any other DNS registrar I have worked with.
We have other domains and SSL hosted with GoDaddy and while GoDaddy's web management currently has issues, it is because they are currently switching over to a new web management system and getting the bugs worked out. Network Solutions has had the same old interface for 3+ years. Renewing our SSL certificates with GoDaddy was a much simpler process, I submitted the CSR from my account and within 3 days I was notified that my SSL was complete and ready for download.

I've used Network Solution most commonly for domain registration and DNS. I've occasionally also worked with their web hosting service. They provide other services as well. We use it when consulting with clients whose domains, DNS, or websites are hosted there.
  • They do appear to have very low INTRODUCTORY prices on many of their services.
  • User interface for service management: their interfaces for DNS management especially are quite buggy, but across the board, it's clunky and outdated.
  • Support: I can't remember any good experience I've ever had with their support.
  • Reliability: I've experienced frequent issues with DNS and hosting reliability.
Based on my experiences with Network Solutions, I would not recommend any of their services at this time. I know of no specific issues with domain registration, so if the cost comparison makes sense, then perhaps it would be reasonable to buy domains from them, but be beware of the introductory price and know what you'll be paying for it in the long term when you price compare.
  • Poor reliability has impacted sites and services.
  • Poor support has led to wasted time and poor results.
  • Buggy interface has wasted time and caused issues.
Based on my experience to date, I would rate Network Solutions easily at the bottom of the list. I have not previously and would not select Network Solutions, but have worked with it as related to sites and clients previously set up there.
