Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Atlassian Confluence across our whole organization. Our sales team, design and web development team and our client management team. We also used it to store all our systems and processes and communication.

What it helped us do was keep everything in one place and be able to find it easily.

Pros and Cons

Pros

They make great templates for everything we needed.
Organization of documents was decent
Having all their tools connected was a great asset for us

Cons

Finding our documents was confusing at first.
The organization and connection to their other products is confusing. Though they have been improving it slowly.
User management across all platforms could be improved.

Most Important Features

The templates both build by us and the prebuilt ones.
Things were organized and in the same place.
Confluence was connected to their other tools we were already using.

Return on Investment

We felt organized for the first time in a long time.
We spent too much time figuring it out early on.
We found it was better suited for us down the road than early on in our business

Alternatives Considered

Google Drive, Evernote, Notion and Dropbox Paper

For a larger organization Atlassian Confluence is the best tool we used. We found that since we were a smaller organization it wasn't worth it for us as much as using Google Drive and keeping on top of it. We ended up going back to using Google Drive but only because we didn't need everything Atlassian offered and were spending too much time figuring it out when we needed to focus on our product development and sales.

We will absolutely go back to Confluence when we grow larger and need more robust tools.

Our organization was small but growing and we knew we needed something better to create and store all our documents. We originally had them spread throughout Notion, Google Drive, Dropbox and Evernote and we wanted to be able to bring everything together in one place and also be able to connect with other tools we were using.

What we found though as a smaller team it was a lot of work to organize and set up and we spent a lot of time on it when we should have waited until we were a little larger organization.
