Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

We use it to offer digital sheet music downloads to customers interested in learning and performing the music of Lindsey Stirling. I personally run the website and store and take care of all customer service. I have a couple of other website people as users, but I only use them when necessary.
  • It's easy to give refunds.
  • BigCommerce is easy to learn and use.
  • When we changed the domain to lindseystirling sheet music.com after having a bigcommerce.com website name, there was no way to forward the old domain to the new one. We lost a TON of traffic and years of accumulated traffic, which meant the new website wasn’t as searchable. We lost a lot of money due to this.
  • Sometimes the system logs out in the middle of uploading a digital file, and I have to start the upload over.
  • The website is user-friendly, and the back end gives us plenty of options with regards to what kind of vendors we can use for payment.
  • It’s easy to look up history and transactions, though I have had trouble with the system not finding orders or customers when I put in their email address, even when the email is correct. I’ve found transactions under a name (though it won’t find the name if there is a space before the first letter) and witnessed that the email I had searched was indeed correct, but the system had not found it until I searched the right name.
I appreciate the options, but I also appreciate that there are not so many options that it gets confusing. My website developer has been able to do most of the things I’ve asked and implemented them on the website, so it appears to me that the scalability is very good. I am happy with BigCommerce.
I have been able to create notifications to customers at checkout that let them know that they can save 30% if they add x number of dollars to their cart. I have also been able to create more clarity through the checkout process for the customers, as well as the ability for customers to check out as a guest and/or create an account. I have not yet figured out how to add text to encourage customers to create an account, as it would reserve their purchases for future downloads in the future should they choose, or if they lost their music.
I honestly haven’t used any others, so I wouldn’t be able to compare. BigCommerce came highly recommended to me by my website developer and I took his advice. It has been helpful for both digital and physical purchases by our customers, and I appreciate the feasibility and user-friendly appeal.
It’s been great as a platform for our digital media, as it pretty much runs itself, since we don’t ship anything. I appreciate the analytics pages. Customer service has always been top-notch. Whenever I’ve struggled with an issue or problem, the BigCommerce employees have been friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful in assisting me to figure things out or get issues resolved.

2 - I run the store (had no previous experience) and my website guy has given tips along the way so that I have been able to almost entirely run the platform by myself. When I get stuck I give him a call.
  • Customer retention and storing customer information
  • Facilitates digital product storage and sales
  • Easy to use and very few "bugs"
  • Direct customers to our other store
  • Advertise and promote YouTube videos that coincide with the sheet music
  • Advertise and promote Lindsey's music
  • Utilize emails to create e-newsletters
  • Make it more interactive so that customers can read the .pdf files and play mp3 files from their account/storage
  • Promote all aspects of Lindsey's merchandise and music
I love the platform and ease of use. It has been consistent and reliable for us as well as for our customers. As long as the .pdf and mp3 files are stored here safely I don't see any reason to change anything.
