Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Webex Calling

Cisco Webex Calling is being used by our entire organization. We are using Cisco Webex Calling for a number of reasons. The main reason to switch to Cisco Webex Calling was to integrate Cisco Webex Meetings and our on premise phone system. An other reason that we switched to Cisco Webex calling was to continue the trend of decreasing the reliance on our onsite data center. The last and though important not the most important to us was cost savings.
  • Centralized management
  • Ease of use for the end user
  • No need for on premise hardware
  • Cost savings vs Call Manager
  • Still a young product
  • Missing some features
  • Cisco support can leave something to be desired
  • Decentralization of your phone system
  • Added DR\BCP with a could based phone system
  • Cost savings vs a SIP solution
Having started with Cisco Webex Meetings this was a logical next step for our company. Our on premise Cisco servers and Call manager were up for renewal along with our SIP circuit from our telco carrier. Adding the cost for renewal for hardware, licensing, and SIP lines together made this a very simple choice. We were also able to use our existing Cisco phones and video conference units with Cisco Webex Calling, which further brought down the cost.
Cisco Webex Calling meets and exceeded our needs to provide a secure collaborative space/meeting/call without any additional steps by out staff. Since we moved from Cisco Jabber, our staff was very familiar with and used video call\meetings on a daily basis. Now our staff moves around the Cisco Webex Calling applications making calls and video conferences without any IT intervention or assistance.
For our needs these were both non-starters. I'm sure these products may have some of the same if not all the same features but what they are missing is the Webex Meeting integrations. Since we do not use Zoom, RingCentral was a no go. 8x8 did not fit into our overall technology path so it was not selected.
Cisco Webex Calling is a great alternative for anyone using any on premise solution. There is even more to be gained and money to be saved if your company has more than one location with phone services or servers. I can see Cisco Webex Calling not being useful if your company is currently using and are happy with RingCentral or another cloud calling solution.
