Overall Satisfaction with ClickUp
ClickUp is used in my organization as the sole project management tool, be it for managing engineering/design/product work, creating documentation or prioritization. The business problems ClickUp addresses are:
- Single platform for multiple use cases such as Sprints & Documentation
- Collaboration with multiple participants
- Sharing artifacts outside the organization, with external stakeholders such as clients
- The document sharing feature of ClickUp is done really well. I can share documents, boards, lists within my org as well as outside my org with a private or public link.
- Boards & Lists are another core feature done well in ClickUp. A list can have multiple views such as a Kanban, Gantt, simple list or even a Calendar.
- Goals is a welcome addition in ClickUp as it allows one to track overarching initiatives right down to the minutest of details by linking a goal to engineering stories & tasks.
- ClickUp could improve how it does Epics. While ClickUp follows Goals, epics is an industry wide concept and ClickUp would do well to incorporate traditional epics into its project management structure.
- Whiteboard is a great feature but could use improvement to make it as competitive as a Miro or Figjam.
- Lastly, ClickUp could increase security of its shared documents by adding time-based or password-based sharing capabilities.
- ClickUp has saved approximately $5/mo for 200+ users
- While time estimate is tough to give, ClickUp has made our engineering teams deliver faster, shaving off an average of 2 weeks every quarter.
- Our meetings have reduced by 20% due to good documentation on ClickUp
ClickUp has helped improve collaboration within the team by increasing the asynchronous communication between team members. Since we use documents for all kinds of work - engineering documentation, product briefs, design briefs, research guides, the first activity done by a team member at the start of a project is to create a document and then share it with team members where they collaborate, either over a video call or on their own time.
Our team has been able to simplify our productivity processes by reducing the number of tools in use. Earlier, we used to have Confluence for Documentation, Jira for Engineering tasks, and monday.com for product roadmaps. This meant artifacts were available in multiple places. With ClickUp, we now have a single tool for all three use cases. This has:
- Reduced the back and forth in getting artifacts over email, slack, texts
- Ensured everyone has visibility into each others' work
ClickUp stands tall against the productivity software I've used in past. The biggest advantage of ClickUp can be summed up in one phrase - "Less is more". By combining multiple features and functions in one tool, it has reduced the number of tools we use, which saves time and increases overall productivity.
