Overall Satisfaction with ClickUp
We use ClickUp as a cross-divisional, interdepartmental project management hub and communication tool. When we began implementing ClickUp, our primary issues were a lack of communication with decisions, programs, and projects that involved multiple teams. This resulted in unnecessary miscommunications and tensions. We have a staff that ranges from 400-600 at any given time, and one of our historic challenges has been to create a structure that can last over time rather than being dependent on a person with a specific skill set or ability. Our goal with ClickUp was to begin to mitigate some of these dynamics as well as create guardrails and guidelines to safeguard our core processes and procedures. At our current stage of both on-boarding and implementation, we are already seeing ways that this tool has streamlined some of our communication and tracking of progress on projects and tasks.
- Tracks tasks over time.
- Provides a workspace around a task to keep communication in the same place.
- Lots of flexibility in structuring and customizing your workspace to your needs.
- On-boarding can be a little laborious for members of your team who are less tech-savvy.
- It can be a little hard to find features through the various menus.
- The chat function looks helpful, but it is not clear if it is powerful enough to replace some of our other methods of communication.
- 50% increase in streamlined communication around a task.
- Significant decreases in revisiting information that was already stated.
- Ability to multi-task more effectively.
Being on the Operations team, we are constantly having conversations about how to better collaborate between our different areas. ClickUp has given us a hub from which to manage, track, and report back on each of our different areas. We are still working on rolling this out to each of our individual departments, but right now, we are already noticing more ease in managing tasks and tracking goals simply by getting everyone in the same place. We have fewer issues with the proper people not being looped in on decisions and communication, and the greater visibility leads to much more awareness of the requirements of each project.
As I have mentioned, we are able to consolidate our communication and progress tracking into a single platform. This does not mean that we are perfectly able to replace our other tools; email and chat functions still carry a lot of our day to day, and our goal eventually would be to change this. However, having our information in the same place is helping us make more intentional and informed decisions.
Basecamp: ClickUp far outshines Basecamp in a number of ways, with the primary way being the innate flexibility of the platform. Basecamp has a much easier onboarding experience, but the ceiling of the platform is much lower. ClickUp can simply do more. Slack: ClickUp does not yet have some of the chat versatility that Slack does. Slack is much better at instant communication, and feels more streamlined regarding on-going discussion apart from a task. However, ClickUp does perform better regarding resource management in my experience, and the task-orientation of the software helps eliminate some of the meandering thoughts that Slack is sometimes prone to prolonging.
