Overall Satisfaction with Hootsuite

Hootsuite is used as our social media publishing and monitoring software. We use it to publish content, engage with our audience, and plan our social media calendar. We pull social media reports with it and are able to track all of our campaigns. It's been a great tool for us so far.

Pros

  • Publishing and organizing content
  • Engaging with our audience
  • Analyzing our campaigns and pulling reports

Cons

  • Pricing: the least expensive plan only allows for one user. This makes approval/workflow challenging for a team
  • Training: wish there were more options for training for smaller teams
  • AI content: the generator is still a bit buggy, but that'll hopefully become more intuitive as time goes on
  • Ability to track our engagement (impressions, followers, reach) has allowed us to prove our worth as a public affairs team
  • Saving time with drafting, scheduling, and publishing content
  • Increased traffic to our website
Hootsuite has a user friendly interface, a low level learning curve (if you've worked with other social media management platforms before, Hootsuite is very easy to get used to), and the fact that you can manage all of your social media accounts through one platform (limit of 10 at the professional level) makes Hootsuite a very usable application.
Unfortunately with our plan we aren't able to use the approval workflow, but we've built workarounds for that to ensure we are executing our social media plan in an efficient manner. There's one inbox for all of our social accounts with makes replying to inquiries a breeze. We create our graphics outside of Hootsuite so there's not much else to do to keep things on brand besides write our social posts with our brand voice. Hootsuite doesn't have much to do with that.
Sprout is a superior product and has more in-depth features, however, they are more expensive than Hootsuite. Sprout has great customer support and also offers many training options. I haven't noticed that with Hootsuite. It's easy to navigate both of their interfaces - I don't have a preference for one over the other.

Do you think Hootsuite delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Hootsuite's feature set?

Yes

Did Hootsuite live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Hootsuite go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Hootsuite again?

Yes

Hootsuite is best suited for an organization that has the money to spend on an enterprise plan. A lot of the best features are only available in that plan. Single social media specialists may feel limited by the "professional" plan and have to come up with creative solutions for approval workflow and sharing ideas about the calendars they put together.
