Overall Satisfaction with Hootsuite

Hootsuite is an integral part of my day-to-day role as a social media specialist. Without Hootsuite, I would be manually scheduling content, which would take too much time out of my day. I also love how Hootsuite pulls all analytics together into one spot that is easy to digest for not only me but also my clients.

Pros

  • Insights - customizable, innovative, all in one place, digestible
  • Schedule - easy to read in a weekly view, allows you to see all clients
  • Ads - these looks very put together and something our organization is looking into switching to

Cons

  • Uploading content into Hootsuite - Our team shares a protected Drive so we are unable to connect our Drive to Hootsuite. A better system there would be helpful.
  • Teams/Organizations - Luckily I am a newer member so I was figuring things out but I had a couple clients scheduled out for 2 months and I accidentally deleted the organization which meant it deleted all of my scheduled posts. It was a bit heart-wrenching to find out there was not a reset or retrieve organization on this. There should be an easier or more streamlined process to setting up certain social clients into a bucket thats easy to use when scheduling.
  • When scheduling posts, please make a monthly view that actually shows the posts. Many people work in month long batches so when we can only see a week it makes for a lot of unnecessary back and forth.
  • I save on average 3 hours a week being able to use a scheduler versus having to manually schedule several clients into each social platform they have.
There are a couple of confusing things, especially as you first get started. But I do think that once you get the hang of it it is easy to navigate. I would probably have to show any team members who were added, how to find their way around but it wouldn't take long.
Hootsuite has added new and relevant features to my scheduling and posting routines. I love that I can use a best-time estimate feature - I have seen social media numbers start to climb since listening to that advice. I have not had any issue with posts not going out as scheduled so I worry less with Hootsuite.

I would love to see us be able to add music to a post before scheduling!
In my opinion, SKED was a mess of a resource to use for a year and a half but cost was a big factor. Luckily I found Hootsuite pricing and realized it's not that much more expensive so we made the jump.

My experience with Sprout Social was lovely, the price tag wasn't.
