Overall Satisfaction with LogicMonitor

We use LogicMonitor solely within our IT department currently. However, we are exploring creating limited status dashboards for other departments to see the high-level status of our systems. We implemented LogicMonitor to gather more information regarding our servers and appliances with far less configuration compared to previous laborious and custom solutions.
  • Auto discovery of Datasources and Datapoints for every added device
  • Custom visual dashboards and many pre-configured rich dashboards
  • Broad support and continual expansion of new devices and manufacturers
  • After-hours alert management is lacking. 3rd party solutions are still recommended
  • Updating DataSources can be time consuming if you need to edit the original DataSource.
  • Less upfront configuration needed when adding devices to be monitored saving time
  • Performance history helps understand true utilization of hardware and resources
Zabbix although opensource and free. The amount of time to setup, configure templates, and manage the individual agents ended up costing more in unrealized internal labor costs compared to LogicMonitor. Datadog was too complex and highly customizable with no real out of the box solution to start monitoring our environment right away. Checkmk although far less time to configure compared to Zabbix and has a free option it still required us to tell the system what to monitor and how to monitor compared to LogicMonitor figures out what to monitor for you automagically. LogicMonitor has provided us information we never had available to us through Zabbix due to the limited and complex templates revealing issues that we were not aware of and providing us performance metrics we did not have previously.
Hands down the best support we have received from any vendor. Same top tier experience at any time of the day whether it is a simple question or a complex issue. They listen to feedback and do their best to implement feedback on problems that are discovered. Support is always providing references and material to learn more about what you are asking in a non-condescending manner which is appreciative. When LogicMonitor tells you their support sells the product that is the truth.
60 Windows servers on-premise in a VMware environment. Handful of Linux servers. Small handful of servers in AWS with limited usage of AWS. Except for AWS. Our environment is in one geographic location.
Deploying the LogicMonitor collector took only minutes and because it is an agent-less solution we were able to be up and running, monitoring 80% of our environment in 1 hour while on a sales call with LogicMonitor sales engineering. Very minimal maintenance regarding the collector on a dedicated server. Comparing to our previous Zabbix solution we had to manage a Linux server we were not the most familiar with in addition to managing agents for all servers.
LogicMonitor has enabled us to replace our previous solution of Zabbix for our production servers. Due to the cost of LogicMonitor we chose only to monitor our production environment. We still need to maintain another monitoring solution for our non-production environment. After hours alerting we still are choosing to leverage Opsgenie so that we can be woken up in the middle of the night when a critical alert comes through. Something LogicMonitor cannot do if an employees phone is on silent. Opsgenie resolves this issue. LogicMonitor absolutely has provided increased visibility into our IT infrastructure most importantly our SAN. We now have complete historical visibility into our NetApp SAN.

LogicMonitor is well suited for any size organization that wants to not
have to "worry" about what to configure when choosing to monitor an
environment. LogicMonitor auto finds and associates the DataSources and
other types of data with the devices you add to LogicMonitor. We monitor
primarily Windows servers in a VMware environment with no in-house
custom apps. LMLogs has just been introduced and we have not used it.
Prior to that I would have said LogicMonitor may not be appropriate for
log monitoring.
