Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp

We use Mailchimp with our non-profit and small business clients to create seamless email marketing fundraising campaigns and newsletters. As a design, marketing, and fundraising team we have found Mailchimp to be easily customizable to fit each brand's voice and up-to-date on trends. Also, we utilize their tools such as A/B testing and pre-built templates to make the marketing process easier once clients take-over the work themselves since our model is a sustainable approach for non-profits! We take advantage of the analytics to inform future decisions, however I have been less impressed with how reports are built within the platform. It is hard to compare months or years as that option within the standard version is not available. Hopefully, this is improved in the future because it hasn't changed my overall review of Mailchimp!
  • Up-to-date on tech trends and a leader in the market.
  • A/B and other testing tools to inform campaign decisions.
  • Better analytics - I want a year to year comparison of email open rates.
  • Connection or partnership to stock photography or design assets.
  • We used Mailchimp for one non-profit to find their most active (five-star) donors. Mailchimp ranks users based on open rates or links clicked and this feature helped us find ambassadors for the organization that we reached out to personally to take the campaign further and do social good!
  • Email marketing works very well for international non-profits when raising money and Mailchimp has been a valuable tool to run these campaigns.
Compared to other email marketing, page building, or design tools Mailchimp has great automated scheduling functions, reporting, templates, and testing at a much lower cost. There are different levels of plans for small or large companies. Of the options, it is the cheapest! However, where I believe it falls short is customization for creatives and designers, as well as helpful segmentation of your lists.
Mailchimp is extremely easy to use! Their usability is well-thought-out and is intuitive. It is also on trend with technological and design updates. The reason it is not a 10 is because of the immediate landing page for our company. I would prefer to be more customizable and tailored to us.
While Mailchimp is very functional and versatile, we don't use Mailchimp as an all-in-one platform because we mainly work with smaller business clients and non-profits who cannot utilize the higher subscriptions and suggest other options for landing pages. Also, Mailchimp does not help social media scheduling or help you create design materials.
We have raised thousands of dollars for non-profits driving social campaigns through Mailchimp! Notably, in the analytics, we always find that our open rates are higher than the non-profit industry average which we are very pleased with. Along the way, we have learned that less is more and that a powerful subject line, tested through A/B testing, makes a big difference.
Mailchimp is great for email marketing when you are not an expert in it. However, if you have a large design and marketing team you may want a product that gives you more flexibility and better analytics. Furthermore, their landing page functionality is very basic and I have yet to implement it, but there is no other product I have found that is better for its purpose so I would highly recommend it.
