Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365)

We are a Microsoft school, so this is the officially supported office solution for the entire organization. We use it for email, calendaring, word processing, spreadsheets, file sharing, and collaboration. I think the main thing that the Microsoft 365 version of office does is to help figure out file sharing and collaboration. For this purpose, it is very good.
  • Word Processing
  • File Sharing
  • Calendaring
  • Linux Support
  • Finer points of file sharing
  • Email
  • Collaboration
  • Scheduling meetings
  • Word processing
  • Much more efficient use of time for me individually.
  • I am much better able to keep track of group projects.
  • Microsoft word makes it much easier to plan and give video lectures to my students.
It's all about the network effect. Since everyone else at my school using Microsoft 365, eventually I had to bite the bullet and join the crowd. Using the officially supported file syncing and sharing solution solves a large number of problems right out of the box. Other solutions can do these tasks, but the overhead involved in getting them to work with users on other platforms is not worth it.

Do you think Microsoft 365 delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Microsoft 365's feature set?

Yes

Did Microsoft 365 live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Microsoft 365 go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Microsoft 365 again?

Yes

I tried resisting Microsoft and Office for a few years. I used Ubuntu Linux for my desktop and other open source solutions which do the same things that Microsoft 365 does. The problem is that when everyone else at the organization uses Microsoft 365, my workflow and productivity took a serious hit. I finally gave up and installed windows and Microsoft 365. Having the apps installed and running right on the desktop (instead of trying to use the cloud versions) makes file sharing and collaboration with colleagues much easier.
