Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Teams

We use Teams for both video conferencing and chat. In my role, I use it to host recurring sales trainings with an average of ~100 people on those calls.

I use it on a daily basis for chat and calendar management as well.

Pros

  • As a facilitator, I appreciate that the chat to meetings remains open after the call ends
  • There's a mobile app

Cons

  • The calendar on Teams doesn't always "talk" to the calendar in Outlook. You'd think they'd be mapped to each other but I consistently run into issues where they don't sync.
  • Teams video calls consistently have issues with host permissions. I've listed co-hosts ahead of time, and we still run into issues with other people downloading attendance or pulling Poll data or recordings.
  • Teams had a good idea of pre-scheduling messages in the chat, but that feature is buggy and I'm often unable to check if the message was pre-scheduled -- the preview disappears and then will fire off anyways which makes it difficult to prepare for meetings or edit items.
  • it's not possible to pre-schedule Polls. We use the poll feature to collect CSAT scores, and the facilitator currently has to remember to manually click the button --there's no way to schedule out the poll to automatically be sent out.
  • Breakout functionality is incredibly clunky
  • Their group/channel functionality is clunky and hard to use
  • Teams provides bare minimum chat features for an enterprise level business
  • We host our weekly sales training on the platform with an average of ~100 people in attendance each week
  • I use the group chat and "pin chat" functionality to manage speakers and subject matter experts in preparation for the weekly trainings that take place each week.
it technically has chat, calendar and video conferencing, but it's buggy and inferior to other solutions like Slack or Zoom. If I had a choice, I would not use Microsoft.
We're required to use Microsoft Teams as I assume we get it free as part of our enterprise MS Office Suite agreement.

Do you think Microsoft Teams delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Microsoft Teams's feature set?

No

Did Microsoft Teams live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Microsoft Teams go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Microsoft Teams again?

No

Teams is inferior to other platforms like Slack for messaging or Zoom. If it were up to me, I'd use Zoom for video conferencing as it's better for large groups and online training, and cleaner.

Slack would be my preferred tool for chat as it's much easier to create channels, push notifications for teams, and integrations with other tools like Seismic.
