Overall Satisfaction with PagerDuty
As a freelance coder when I manage my client systems on my own I use PagerDuty to make sure that I don't miss critical issues in production. This software helps me get instant alerts when something breaks.I use this in monitoring live APIs, backend services and cloud infrastructure for my active clients.
Pros
- It makes sure I never miss any critical issue.
- I can configure alerts so I am only notified for serious problems like service downtime or high error rates.
- I usually work as a sole engineer on a project and this software shows me which service is affected, error details from monitoring tools. This saves time during debugging and helps me fix issues faster.
Cons
- They should improve post-incident reporting for small users.
- Pricing seems a bit expensive for freelancers and small users.
- Real-time alerts
- On-call scheduling
- Integration with monitoring tools
- It helps me to prevent revenue loss from downtime
- WIth this software I can demonstrate professional incident management and gain clients confidence.
- Negative RoI is its pricing.
This software helped me avoid missed alerts especially during nights, weekends or high traffic times. With this software I can respond quickly without second check or relying on backup tools.
I use Datadog and AWS CloudWatch to monitor my systems and when an issue comes, this software automatically sends an alert to On-call person. I also integrate Slack, so every incident create channels and updates are shared with teams in real time.
I use runbook automation to speed up recovery. When the incident is created, a predefined runbook can be triggered for basic checks or restart a service. This can be initiated from PagerDuty mobile app and allowing me to take action immediately.
The analytics helps spotting trends over time. I can identify recurring issues, services that generate multiple alerts. This allowed the user to fine-tune alert thresholds and improve on-call workloads.
