Overall Satisfaction with Parallels Remote Application Server
RAS is being used by about 6 remote users to access a remote application and remote desktops. It allows us to have a secure way, with multi-factor authentication, for users to get into our network and provide adequate logging for what's going on. Previously using RemoteApp, we had to put holes in our firewall and it lacked great logging.
- Security.
- Accessibility.
- Price (minimum 15 client license).
- Reporting services difficult to install.
- Broader access to software.
- Greater security.
- Chrome Remote Desktop, Remote Desktop Services and Citrix Gateway (formerly NetScaler Unified Gateway)
Users were formerly using unmanaged remote access programs to bypass the firewall. Previously I had used RemoteApp when the source of users was predictable (and traffic could be limited to a single site).
Deployment was relatively simple. I would estimate it took around an hour to have everything fully set up the way we wanted, but a sales engineer walked us through the entire process and helped inform the decisions we were making. It is very easy to use software system.
We have both Windows and Mac remote users, and this solution has worked for both. We usually opt for the Parallels Client (better overall experience), but we have used the HTML5 connection at times. Both work well out of the box.
The security and granularity of Parallels is fantastic. It is very clear to see who has access to what resources. We are not using MFA and couldn't be happier with the attention to detail when it comes to security.
