Parallels is awesome for what it is for
Overall Satisfaction with Parallels Remote Application Server
We use it as a remote access tool for users to access our resources away from the hospital. It gives them the ability to remote into their desktop as well as let us publish single apps instead of having to give access to the whole network. It combines those tools into one central interface that is pretty easy to learn.
Pros
- It is great for creating remote desktops
- Publishing single Applications
- easy to use administrator console
Cons
- Requires that a client is installed on your PC
- VDI's built in Parallels crash sometimes requiring us to rebuild them
- It replaced our remote gateway
- it is easy to install
Parallels Remote Application Server is pretty different from a lot of remote software. It isn't a VPN or even a remote desktop application though it does have a lot of those same functions available. Parallels is a good software for many of an office's remote needs and centralize those services into one dashboard.
It definitely streamlines the process of delivering apps remotely as well as setting up and using remote desktops. It's cross platform hardware capability is also a great feature in today's work environment with the proliferation of BYOD
Its mobile apps are convenient but don't always translate to a great user experience as some things like remoting into your pc from your phone can be difficult to navigate. Its cross-platform hardware capability is also a great feature in today's work environment with the proliferation of BYOD
our parallels setup is a stand-alone type setup so it doesn't interface with our hypervisor.
All the security features work great and have been wonderfully efficient without causing the slowness. The one thing I would like to see changed is the placement of the reset all user button under the multi-factor authentication tab is located right where some techs may hit it thinking it says ok or enter but instead it resets all user's MFA.
