Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
We use Paylocity HR & Payroll, utilizing timecards, accruals & time off requests, Employee Data, Document holding, Reports and analytics. Our biggest source of pain was allocating employees to cost centers, many times by percentages as Managers and key employees headed several locations. In the past, this was a manual process and fraught with errors. We were unable to do this in our prior payroll system, but Paylocity makes it simple to allocate and make changes with backup reporting with all the details.
- Customer Service is always top tier when I need help
- Availability to troubleshoot on the spot
- simple to use system once it's set up, very user friendly
- Report names are sometimes vague and non descriptive - "Accrual Report" is actually Sick and Vacation Balances. Not clear at all!
- The GL Mapping team is only available by submitting an email to service. It would really be helpful to speak with someone instead of endless email back and forth trying to understand each other.
- Better data-driven decision making
- Less time answering common questions by employees - it's all in their personal & company profile
- Easy tracking of time & labor, reducing OT and costs
Paylocity's payroll automation is similar to QB, however, I don't need a separately purchased module for time tracking. Time off History reporting is a breeze - right at my own and the employees fingertips. This transparency to the employee is important. My own efficiency is improved through the automation and processes. I highly trust the data I am getting and don't feel I need to verify it as I did before.
We have not used this portion of Paylocity yet.
Ceridian Dayforce is impossibly difficult, and overkill for any employer of less than 500. Support is not always in the US. Assistance with troubleshooting is 3-48 hours, which is useless when you have a payroll deadline. Training and education of the product is months of reading and charts, and implementation specialists are all over the world, which is fraught with time availability and language barriers.
Quickbooks is great for employers of 20 or less. It's simple, and simple (yes, redundantly simple) Not a robust enough system for larger employers, reporting is limited.

My experience is that when something goes wrong, it's not "normal" nor in the 9-5 timeframe. Better to have it available than delay processing.
EVERY TIME. From implementation - our first implementation group fell apart - family emergency, an employee that didn't fit well with the company, and an employee that quit - all before we even got our feet off the ground - Paylocity very quickly pivoted to right the ship and get us a star team to get us going. To my random questions on where to find something, or how to create a special paycheck, even though they helped me 2 weeks ago, are always exemplary. I am never told "you can find that in the learning center" - I'm walked through the process step by step or shown exactly where to find the instructions, saving me hours of valuable time!
