Paylocity is great for payroll, but recruiting piece has room for improvements.
Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
I am the technical recruiter for [...], so I use Paylocity for recruiting purposes. It starts from when they apply, then dispositioning them in Paylocity. Whether they are qualified or not, etc. I typically get their resume from Paylocity when they upload it there. They are also able to upload certifications, etc.
Pros
- Payroll
- Self-service for employees
- Tax information
Cons
- Recruiting piece/ATS could be improved.
- A candidate being able to save progress on their application is really a must as they can't leave and come back to their application without having to restart, i.e. if they need to get a phone number for a reference for example.
- Could use more room in entering the job for internal notes.
- Quirky when doing cut and paste of job details that leaves spaces that aren't in the document being pasted.
- Payroll piece does a great job in getting our employees paid.
- Self-service allows employees to make their own changes to personal information which saves company time and money and makes it better and quicker for employees to make changes.
- W2 and tax forms are great.
- Making changes to deductions is also good.
Paylocity has made payroll better. We use Costpoint to actually do the timekeeping and then that goes to Paylocity. As mentioned, the self-service automation system is great and is pretty easy to use. Also, accessing pay stubs and W2 and tax information is good.
We don't have this with our version of Paylocity.
Honestly, as the recruiter, I preferred the functionality of ApplicantPro better. The biggest thing is that applicants aren't able to create a profile and save progress on their application. This has been a source of frustration for some of our applicants, which isn't great obviously. Seems like Paylocity isn't the quickest on resolving challenges either. Entering job details is also troublesome as it leaves spaces in the cut and pasted information and you have to fix by backspacing which is a time waster.

Evaluating Paylocity and Competitors
Yes - ApplicantPro, ADP
- Ease of Use
Payroll functions. This was the primary reason we got Paylocity.
We would probably go about it in the same way. Likely ask more questions about functionality to make sure we are getting what we want and need.
Paylocity Support

Good followup Kept well informed Support cares about my success | Escalation required Need to explain problems multiple times |
No. Didn't see the need for it at the time. Thought we shouldn't have to pay more for support for a product we purchased...
