Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
We use Paylocity as our HRIS, for paid time off requests, our Performance Management system for reviews and goal setting, Reports and people analytics, Payroll processing, calling out peer recognition, communication tool to push out messages to all employees, especially those that don't have company email, Learning Management System (LMS) to track who's taken which trainings, especially for the required trainings for annual compliance, shared calendar of company events, benefits enrollment, real time org chart, compensation data, surveys, and so much more.
Pros
- The data dashboard is powerful and visually compelling. I use it for all of my presentations to the Exec team.
- Impressions is great for peer to peer recognition. We use all of our monthly impressions to select our employee of the month from.
- Time off requests are simple, easy to have our managers review and approve or deny from there, seeing balances, use patterns, and other valuable information to make data informed decisions.
- The performance Management system is easy to use for managers to review and help their employees make and keep their goals and commitments.
Cons
- The Applicant Tracking System could use some improvement. We actually use a different one due to pricing and it works better than Paylocity's.
- The LMS is good, but the content is a little long and not as practical as other LMS content we've used before.
- The org chart is fine, but would be better if we could get more at a glance big picture Org Chart levels that are more easily customized for how and what we want to see.
- Paylocity has great automation ability. All automations we have set up has eliminated the possibility for human error and the amount of work I have to pay my Payroll and Benefits Specialist to do, etc. So I've been happy with these.
- Paylocity gave me a really fair rate. When Paycor, Paycom, Rippling, and others have come calling, we get down to price and all agree that they will not compete with that price. The rate they gave me single-handedly is what will keep me there forever as long as they don't jack my rates and make me want to go shopping again.
We have nearly 300 employees across the USA and UK and we are able to process all payroll and administer all benefits with one Payroll and Benefits Specialist because he's proficient with Paylocity. It's because of the workflows and automation Paylocity offers that we are able to do this as effectively as we do.
We utilize the surveys, but not exclusively. We have one other tool we use for surveys. But we definitely rely on the Community section to help us build and improve on our culture. We also love the Impressions for peer recognition. We have always encouraged our employees to keep calling out their peers for extra mile work and then use the Impressions submitted each month to select our employee of the month. These tools have had a big impact on maintaining and improving our culture.
- SAP Enterprise Portal, UKG Workforce Central (discontinued), BambooHR, Oracle PeopleSoft HCM and ADP Workforce Now
Paylocity beats all of these hands down. I will give credit to ADP for having a good payroll system, but everything else they have is terrible. Bamboo HR is a really simple to understand and use platform, but that's also it's downside, it's too simple and not robust where we needed it to be. SAP is too big and complex for what we needed. It's more of an ERP than an HR system and it shows when trying to use any aspect of HR. UKG and Oracle are adequate, but really expensive. Paylocity is in the Goldilocks zone of just right for everything.
