Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

Paylocity is the only payroll company that I would recommend. They are easy to work with. They are very knowledgeable and always eager to help. The software is user friendly for both management and the employees. I have used ADP, Wells Fargo, Timekeeper, paycheck, QuickBooks and several other payroll software and Paylocity is by far the best that I have used. I would highly recommend Paylocity to anyone that is looking for a payroll company.

Pros

  • Customer Service
  • User Friendly Software
  • Web Portal
  • Quarter Reporting
  • Year End Reporting
  • Eagar to help customers learn new tricks and shortcuts

Cons

  • When changing structure send all user step by step instructions to follow
  • When sending out time to review emails send instructions of where to find.
  • Good record keeping
Keeping good payroll records and auto generated reports for payroll are almost immediately available after payroll is submitted.
Employees can keep an eye on their personal information
User friendly and accurate details. You can always find what you need in a report. If you need a certain item and can't find it customer service will be there to help you locate a report that would help with any scenario.
Paylocity is much more user friendly than any of these. They process the payroll faster than any of these and their reports are available within minutes. This way you can finish your payroll in a timely manner and not have to return to payroll the following day to complete your payroll run.

Paylocity Implementation

Implementation was not difficult compared to others i have done.

Paylocity Training

  • Online Training
  • No Training
I Pick what areas I needed help with and if I didn't understand something I called Customer Service and they helped walk me through it. Customer service was very helpful in all of the areas that I was unsure of. I continue to use customer service for any questions that I might still have.
If they have never used any Payroll software, then they definitely would need to go through training. I have use payroll software for 25 plus years, so I felt that except for a few differences that I could go with the online training with customer service answering the questions that I did have.

Configuring Paylocity

Just right. There is a few areas where I think could be a little better. Adding a check to a payroll run could be a littler smoother. I have a couple of employees that are only on call. They are not in a check batch on a normal week. I have to pull them in. It usually goes pretty smoothly until a couple of runs ago. Then it didn't pull in like normal. Something changed and I still don't know what change. I have a work around that I will be using in the future.
Notify primary user when there has been a change in Paylocity. Give them step by step instructions to complete the task. Most of the time it is pretty simple to figure out. We shouldn't have to figure it out, we should be notified prior to finding it out ourselves don't you think. Updates would make it so simple.
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
Some - we have added small pieces of custom code - Simple IRA Deductions set up. It was a little difficult to get it through the process to have it deducted from our employees checks and to have it matched by our employer. It should be an easy process. I always feel like I am trying to invent the wheel. Just like when we have to add the MN Sick paid Family Medical leave. They acted like we were the only ones that you work with from MN.

Paylocity Support

Everyone that I have dealt with has been very helpful and knowledgeable with the product. I have been very pleased with my service
ProsCons

I have no idea if we do or not.
Adding a check to a payroll. I have done this prior, but for some reason on one of my last payroll it would not add. The customer service person could not get it to add either. Finally, we were able to add it. She stuck by me and didn't get frustrated and kept trying different ways until we got it to work.

Relationship with Paylocity

The were up front with pricing and the price didn't change during the process.
They were very easy to work with. Not pushy at all
Very professional and i didn't feel like we had to make a decision right away. They didn't call all the time asking if we made a decision. they were very respectful and patient with us.
Pricing and set up fees
Everyone wants a good deal of course. We thought we did ok and felt you still made your money also.
Know what you were spending and what you are willing to spend and stick to it. Paylocity's customer service is excellent and worth the money, but don't overspend either.

Upgrading Paylocity

  • I have not heard about an upgrade and really don't think we would need it. We are only 12 employees. Small business.
